🙂 Ya know an evening sitting on my bed online might seem sad to a number of people, but considering I’ve spent the past few hours talking to some of my closest friends (in both “rl” and online), I consider it time well spent. Now off to read some comics 🙂
Month: January 2002
I had lunch with Iain today after a morning’s training….well about an hour for Iain after he should up close to 90 minutes late with a lame excuse 😉 and one of the topics of conversation is up in his blog here. It’s a really good example of how shit the law can be in this country along side it apperently being legal to not give more than 2 days a year for sick leave…
Anyways comicswise. Astro City’s first issue (as read in the first TPB Life in the Big City ) was excellent. One of the most enjoyable single issues of anything I have read in a long time.
This afternoon’s listening.
Madonna: “GHV2”
Bryan Adams: “Waking up the Neighbours”
Meat Loaf: “Hits out of Hell”
Guns N’ Roses: “Appetite for Destruction”
Ya know I’m not as scared by this line from the Ellis board as I should be…
“And the worst is the Klingon Wiccans.”
So Jennifer Garner (Alias) and Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile) have been confirmed as Elektra and Kingpin respectively in Daredevil. While I have to say I am not too thrilled with Ben Affleck as Murdock, Colin Farrell should make an excellent Bullseye. His performance in “Tigerland” was amazing he is going places for sure. Garner should be able to handle this, Alias is an excellent show in it’s own right and she does really well in it. Duncan is imo the perfect choice for Kingpin, although I know that there are already people noting that Kingpin is white in the comics…it seems to slip past them that a single look at Michael Clarke Duncan would show you that he is Kingpin.
You gotta love the net. I’m at home in bed with a headache and I’ve in the space of about 20 minutes paid 2 credit card bills my phone bill, moved money into my savings accounts, and set up everything for my paypal account. Anyway I was impressed
Lots of major comic news over the past few days with the Marvel fuckup over Captain Britain being a pretty big one….Gaiman has filed suit against McFarlane, that should be interesting. I want to read Mircaleman after all this hype. On a McFarlane note, I picked up the first book of “Sam and Twitch” last night by the ever excellent Bendis and it was just that excellent. Might head out later this after (if my headache improves) for book 2. Andy Kubert’s next project (after the overrated imo) Origin will be Gaiman’s Marvel series currently titled “1602”.
Went into Virgin last night after meeting a friend to give her some cheese I brought back and left with 10 decent albums for £60 so got some listening to do over the next few days. Will be upgrading to Blogger Pro sometime tomorrow I expect and the next version of Trillian is currently downloading nicely.
You have to love Google.
Q:Are pop-up ads allowed on Google?
A:Google does not allow pop-up ads of any kind on our site. We find them annoying
And a warning for those of you reading this. Never order smoked ham in France for a starter unless you want 5 raw rashers.
Back from France after some hideous (plane being late) delays and a coach ride as hot (heating bust) as hell yesterday. Funny story involved in that, although it’s not really all that funny. Sitting on the plane waiting to take off from Dinard Airport (shithole), and as we begin to move out onto the runway a women in the row opposite gets up and goes down the back of the plane, 30 seconds later she comes back with a stewardess. The man she is travelling with has a problem. He does not feel ill, but has a bad feeling and can’t fly today. Fair enough, the stewardess talk to him and he agrees to go. She does offer him the option of getting off the plane. The third girl in the row is looking quite nervous at this stage, in fact she comments during the rucus that she hates and is scared to fly in general. herself. About two minutes later we are on the runway and the pilot revs up the engines. The bloke dings the bell above and when a stewardess arrives he says he wants off, he can’t fly he has a really bad feeling we won’t make it. It does not help that the flight is expected to be turbulent due to storms. At this stage it’s too late for him to get off. I don’t know what happened after that but he is brought to see the captain and then appears to fly upfront with the crew. So that was not all that bad, wanker is about the only phrase that springs to mind. Fair enough he does not want to fly and has a bad feeling, but when offered the chance to get off he does not take it.
The poor girl who has been sitting next to him is obviously terrified and has lost all colour. It didn’t bother me all that much or my traveling companion, I’m not nervous about flying and this was little more than opportunity for flippant jokes (we can all point and laugh when we get there….as long as he’s not the one pointing and laughing), but this wanker has scared the already nervous girl next to him to the point of shaking.
Anyways the long weekend was good, St.Malo, Mont St. Michel and the carnival at Dinard being the highlights. The B&B was great, taxis and drink were expensive, the Euro was cool, food was generally good. We stayed pretty much within budget. Brought back some goodies, carambars have been flying around the office this morning. Today’s been catching up on alot of work e-mail’s, reading some weblogs, having a quick look at Blogger Pro and a quick comic shopping lunch mixed with a visit to the bank.
NASA have a lovely map of world lights which is quite large, but worth seeing 🙂
The Rock Star Game that Iain broke is still broken 🙁
fuck my French is so bad, I rang to confirm and it was far far far worse than I thought even having used the net to confirm what I wanted to say. They speak English (phew)
anyways away, back Monday, might post and and when I can 🙂
They are talking to Bendis.
