*sigh*, I don’t appear to be able to log into my hosting control centre thingy at the moment, it’s giving me 404s 🙁

The Stephen King post I promised from a while ago, not really much to it, but…
One of Meg’s recent posts reminded me of a post about Stephen King I had been planning to make for a while now. In many of his books, he writes an introduction or an afterwards (or both) and he will use the phrase “constant reader” or sometimes a variation. Unlike many others who try and use that or a similar phrase, it does not sound in any way contrived or patronising It always seems to work in his books. I don’t get why, but when I read one of his books, I expect to see that phrase before I actually get into the first chapter. Don’t ask me how but it often feels like a personal connection to the books. The simple phrase helps to kick start my reading and my involvement in the story. Anyway it’s a prime example of good writing.
