The Muppet Show

Considering that I did not sleep very well last night and that I was not feeling great all day, getting home at 4:15 am might not have been the best idea.

But I had a really good night. Despite some misgivings about going (see above), I went to Iain’s birthday party tonight. I hadn’t planned on drinking much and I didn’t…although my glasses was refilled on a somewhat more regular pace than I had planned but hey it was all good. So some but not much in the line of booze and nothing stronger for me.

All in all the party was fun, I met people that I have heard lots about over the past while from Iain, including the real ‘Blogger B’ and the other ‘Blogger B’ and that was good. Found out that one of them actually has a connection to work and people I know and that was interesting, in fact I have heard a lot about work colleagues over the past couple of days.

Right two things to mention. In March of last year (01) I was in DC on business for just over two weeks. At various times there was a number of people there including Iain and Scally. At the weekend we all moved from Reston (middle of nowhere) to a hotel in the middle of Georgetown so as we would have something to do for the weekend. On the Saturday night seen as the guys wanted to hit the town we went to a club called Bad Lands. It was the first time I had been in a gay club for the night (note to self mention the gay restaurant in another post) and I thought that was why the others kept coming back and checking on me every few minutes. I was at the bar, happily drinking away, trying to ignore the fact Iain had just tried to chat up the female bartender (“I have a boyfriend and a girlfriend”) for me which was somewhat embarrassing but like I said I was happily drinking so it didn’t bother me all that much. However I found out in conversation tonight that seemingly they had never seen me so quiet and was not sure I was ok in there. Anyways that was really sweet of them 🙂

Second thing, connected to the title of this entry and naming no names. Yes, you are a muppet, but I think for the reasons that you are just confirms that you are in fact male. It happens and is perfectly normal. It’s what happens when a bloke is interested in someone. You make a fool out of yourself, usually on more than one occasion. Trust me, I’ve been there, I doubt you could find someone who when being honest could claim they have not. It’s somewhat that seems to be the exact some bloody thing even if it’s a bloke your interested in. But I don’t need to tell you this, you know it already. Just go with the flow. I would go with more on this but although I am certain this blog doesn’t fall into their browse catagory, the interwebnet is too small a place so I will tell you on Monday morning. That is after I bitch at you for that screenshot on Friday.I am quite pissed about that.. (and rightly so!)

So ah yes. case in point. I could tell you about that, but there are some things that just don’t get blogged, not because I don’t want to blog them, (in fact I would quite like to…I don’t know why) but because it’s traceable and involves other people. Just so you know, your not the only muppet.

ah my time is at hand

Some forwarded trivia for math geeks and people who want the perfect date and time to rule the world:

As the clock ticks over from 8:01PM on Wednesday, February 20th, 2002, time will (for sixty seconds only) read in perfect symmetry. To be more precise: 20:02, 20/02, 2002.
It is an event, which has only ever happened once before, and is something which will never be repeated. The last occasion that time read in such a symmetrical pattern was long before the days of the digital watch (or the 24-hour clock): 10:01AM, on January 10, 1001. And because the clock only goes up to 23.59, it is something that will never happen again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ocean’s 11 was fun. There seemed to be very little content to the actual movie, but what a cast. Brad Pitt is possibly the finest actor of his generation and I really enjoy his performances. Just got home to realise I had left Trillian connected in work with all my play nicks online. I even got a call to ask why I hadn’t replied in hours…gotta go ring her back now, but have stuff, will blog shortly.

But, ultimately, what you need to understand is that you don’t matter.”

what a quote…. hail Ming!

I’m off to see Ocean’s 11 with a group of people later tonight. I’m looking forward to it, it should be good fun 🙂

From Hell: The Graphic Novel

I’ve just finished reading Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell’s “From Hell”. It’s the second time I’ve read it. The first was sometime last year and I didn’t really enjoy it. In fact I found it quite a hard read and it took effort to finish. Not this time. I read over 6 days and it was never tough going. I don’t get why. Perhaps it was seeing the movie last week and that giving me a very clear view of the plot helped clear the air around the book and get through it. I am glad I read it again it’s one of Moore’s best works and it has so obviously had so much effort put into it.

I *will* be in the office before 9:30 on Monday morning. I will be in the office before 9:30 on Monday morning. I will be in the office before 9:30 on Monday morning….

Y Forum: There is at the very least an interesting idea behind this site, and a very good idea in my opinion. From a very quick browse there seems to be no abuse or hatred just people asking questions about a lack of knowledge or understanding. There is nothing wrong with that and because it’s set up as a place where you can ask questions that would normally not be appropriate or that you would not be comfortable answering.
