Heading out for the night right after work to play some pool with the guys from work. Should be a good night 🙂

Read on the WEF. “Your lack of Transmet may be criminal”. It gave me a laugh.
Speaking of, it’s spread around the office Pat (I stopped reading comics) O’L…”Can I have more please?”…given the first to Dave today so he’s next 🙂

Plantary

“All over the World & other Stories” (TPB 1) was my first introduction to Warren Ellis’s “Plantary”. To be honest it didn’t really do anything for me. In fact I recall not liking it much and not enjoying reading it. I did like the characters, The Drummer was cool and Snow had potential. Because it was Ellis I stuck with it and I got “The Fourth Man” (TPB 2). This took a bit of getting into but the ending made it all worth while. It had some really great moments (a standout being Chase stopping time). Issue 12 was the culmination of what started off as a loose plotline and tightened up a lot as those issues went along and it ended on a really high note. I reread both books last night and enjoyed them far more than the first time around. So much so I’m gonna see if the next few are in back issues.

So I went along to the game club meet earlier and it was good. I watched a couple of games and built a deck. Next week I’m gonna go play. There is a league starting off in a couple of weeks and I would like to take part in that. People seemed fun and had no problems with new people and new questions. Afterall it is a very new game and there are lots of questions. Looking forward to playing 🙂

I am sure I am not the only fan who has been waiting for this announcement. Dean Stockwell will be appearing in Enterprise in an episode called “Detained” to be aired later this year 🙂

I’m really into this song at the moment.

I’m that star up in the sky
I’m that mountain peak up high
    I made it
    I’m the worlds greatest
And I’m that little bit of hope
When my backs against the ropes
    I can feel it
    I’m the worlds greatest

Gaming, comics and fancy restaurants

I’m actually thinking of being not only social tomorrow night but going along and meeting new people. There is a game club that meets and plays LOTR and I would really like to play it again so I might go along. Not got much in the way of a deck yet though 🙁

On a whole other note, for the first time I actually felt old last night. It was something I saw and it just stood out as me being old.
I’ve finished off the TPB of Astro City and am eager for more, unfortunately there does not appear to be anymore. I am slowly but surely getting the office hooked on Transmet, and that is pretty much going to plan. I lend out the first book and keep the next 3 in my desk so when they bring the first back I can just give them more.

Went out to dinner with one of the guys from work tonight and a couple of drinks afterwards. It was good, but it felt strange a couple of times, we were in a far more fancy restaurant than normal, for no real reason other than we passed it. The office is not a formal place at all (in so many ways) so we were not dressed the part at all. There was no problem being there but it just felt strange, I think the phrase is self-conscious. Someone once said to me that it didn’t matter, that we were the future (i.e. well paid, young, casual internet geeks) and it shouldn’t bother me. It’s good advice….I think that was Davewhen we were in DC a year or so ago.
