Decisions, decisions, decisions. I now have the opportunity to change something fairly major. It would also solve something that has not really been a great situation for a while. And I am of course thinking about it. I need to talk to my other half about it of course and there is another person that I need to talk to before I post anymore. But it’s an interesting thought to say the least and I think I quite like the idea.

More addictive and more expensive than crack:

The trailer for Blade II rocks 🙂
I love User Friendly, it’s the one daily read that never disapoints and sometimes they reach sheer genius as this

So today BT’s courtcase in NYC begins. It’s the small matter of BT claiming to hold the patent on hyperlinks. They are suing an American ISP, Prodigy claiming that by their use of hyperlinks they are breaching BT’s intellectual property. One has to hope the court has some sense….

ASM #38

oh yes. Amazing Spiderman #38. After the filler of #37, I was disappointed with this. I don’t know why, or what I was expecting, m but it just didn’t seem to have the impact that such a landmark issue should have had. Saying that I intend to read it again over the next couple of days and see what I missed. After all doing that changed my entire view of DK2 #2

Codename….

Had I been online and posting yesterday, at the risk of a comment or two, I would simply have had to go with
codename ‘dead royal’ is a go, I repeat codename ‘dead royal’ is a go!

Mummies….

Anyways on the subject of the museum. I felt this before in other museums, but more here. There is a large collection of Egyptian mummies on display, in and out of the sarcophagi. There are also a quite a few skeletons on display, some even in their graves. I find this quite disturbing on some levels. It seems to be very disrespectful to them and their families. {…yes I know they are thousands of years old but still…} I understand why it is and why they are on display, but still ya know it seems wrong

Right. Stuff.
Enterprise: “Dear Doctor” excellent, a thoroughly enjoyable episode.
Angel: “Waiting in the Wings,” kinda a weak episode but it had it’s moments
I spent today at the British Museum with some friends and then about 4 hours in Starbucks just hanging out and having fun. I had a really good time, company was really great.

but on a whole other note, you know there are just some people in this world who need to grow the fuck up. Because some people don’t…ever….I’m sitting back and watching yet MORE friendships fall apart all involving the same person who just can’t seem to get that she is NOT the centre of the universe and that people have lives outside of her. Someone pointed out during the week that it’s everyone else growing up that’s been the problem, the we are not accepting the same treatment that we would have even a year ago. It was also suggested now that most of us are in serious relationships that is the cause.

Ya know what, sure I can accept that both of those factors are going to change a person, but to this extent? I don’t think so. There is so many lies about so many people being spread around for no reason whatsoever. What’s the point? I mean really is it anything other than childish?
The only time anyone actually gets threw is with the phrase or a variation of the phrase “grow up” but all that gets you is a huff.

Fuck it just grow up already., act your damn age!!! You know who you are.

From Hell

I loved it. 🙂 I had read the original before, but I had found it to be a really really tough read. It’s detail level was typical Alan Moore and it could be quite overwhelming at times. However I do think that having read it made the film all that more enjoyable. It was missing a lot of the mythology from the comics and had quite a few changes. Some worked well, others not so well.

The film plays really well in that you can place all the clues together, more than any other whodunit I can think of (…I’m talking intelligent movies here) but it was not all that obvious. I did seem like it could have been two movies at some times. The mythology is far more tied in and used in the novel, whereas it gets a passing mention in the movie. But there is enough to lead you to some conclusions.

I thought the cast did a really good job, especially Ian Holm as Dr. Gull and Robbie Coltrane does really well in a large supporting role. Johnny Depp was younger than I expected the lead to be, but he carried the movie really well. I’ve never got Heather Graham as an actress, she’s always been missing that certain something. While she put in a solid performance in this movie…she was still missing it.

So this is gonna be a quiet weekend. Nothing planned after tonight. Later I am meeting some really good friends to go see “From Hell” and then after that I have a weekend to catch up on everything that has slid over the past few weeks…ie new ‘Enterprise’, new ’24’ etc etc 😉 Should be good.

On a whole other note, you know when someone you respect just says something good and means if, that good feeling it can cause? Well it’s cool 🙂
