I ended up playind Alpha Centauri for 5 hours last night instead of going online and well sleeping. One thing I did do last night was watch Buffy “Dead Things”. I have to admit to really enjoying it and it ranks as the best of season so far after “Once More with Feeling” of course. Great performances from Gellar and Marsters really made their interplay great viewing 🙂 The view over at Test Pattern describes it as a “bleak angsty dark show”, and that’s just what it was!

Tricky work situations continue…. but again that’s enough of that 🙂

Finally!

At long last for a small number of you AOL UK users you will see something new on sign on. Blame me….well not for the colour and even better than that, it’s NO longer my problem 🙂 🙂 🙂
Oh and downloading at 1mb every 30 seconds…not too shabby. More new Enterprise for tonight. I am 3 episodes behind so will enjoy them this weekend 🙂

-There is only so long people will put up with being treated badly before moving on.
I think that’s a very fair statement for alot of situations be it work, love life or friendship.
You disagree??

On a whole other and ligher note, the top 25 most interesting web personalities is a fun read (via Meta Filter)

ebooks & the paperless society

I hate e-books. I just don’t get them. I am not comfortable reading reams and reams of fiction on my pc, I don’t have a handheld anything so I have never tried on one, but I can’t really see myself using one to read a book. I do read comics online, but only for exclusives {such as Ellis’s “Super Idol” over at artbomb.net} or the odd Dot-Comic over at Marvel. That’s either for an exclusive or I just want to check something out. I could not and would not read my normal monthly comics in an electronic format, nor would I read a book in that format. The only exception would be if I could not get it elsewhere. The thing is I don’t mind reading other stuff on the net just not fiction.

I don’t get why. I have before printed off stuff and tried to read it, but I think the fact that it’s not bound nicely is what stops that from working for me, or maybe even the page sizes. An A4 page of text is not exactly appealing, but a smaller novel size page can be. I guess that’s as good a reason as any. Strange huh, I’m an internet ‘professional’ and one of my favourite things to do in my spare time is hangout online…..

I HATE training people 🙁

hush little baby, don’t say a word / and never mind that noise you heard
it’s just the beast under your bed, / in your closet, in your head

exit light/ enter night / grain of sand

exit light / enter night / take my hand
we’re off to never never land

I’ve been hanging around some comic places lately. In particular over at the Warren Ellis Forum (WEF) and Bendis’s Jinxworld. What has that to do with anything? Well there are a large number of comic professionals that post on both boards. Questions are asked and answered and thoughts shared but mainly people just hang out. Anyways the talent some of these people have just blows me away. Be it writing, drawing, lettering, inking etc etc it’s just amazing. I can’t draw for shit and I can’t write (regardless of how many thoughts I have that I think are cool). It’s something I would love to be able to do, I mean the dream job would have to be comic book writer seen as that ain’t really gonna happen I guess the only realistic dream would be to own a sucessfull comic shop…ah dreams….

People Person

I am not a people person, I freely admit that. I have never been and I don’t really ever expect to be. I am by no means the worst person like that, but I’m not great. So I don’t do well with people that I don’t know in someway or that I don’t click with.
{side note}You know the way sometimes you can just click with someone? Something triggers it, a common passion or interest, a similar sense of humour, physical attraction or even that je ne sais quoi.{/side note}
Anyways it can lead to alot of uncomfortable situations at parties, events or work etc. The uncomfortable silence settles in and I would expect that is something everyone is in some way with familiar with. I tend to go to alot of sci-fi and comics cons or events and it’s still quite hard despite the fact that every single person attending is there for the same reason you are. Everyone has a common interest, be it a tv-show, a movie, an actor, a comic or a writer etc. But it can be tough. Like many of my ‘deeper’ posts I have no idea where this is going but it’s going.

To go to a whole other note for a while. I have discovered “Kurt Busiek ‘s Astro City” and it is a wonderful comic. The first TPB “Life in the Big City” was excellent, one of the best reads I have had in a while. The other TPB I picked up, “Confessions” was even better. I am looking forward to picking up the rest of the series in the very near future.

ah yes DK2 #2. On first reading I was no impressed with this, on second reading I took alot more from it and quite enjoyed it. It is however nothing special, certainly nowhere near the original or any other high point in the Batman universe. It’s a fun read and I am looking forward to the last part but it’s not going to be the first thing I read in my next comic lot.
