Angel is still going well. Not as good as last weeks episode but still very solid. 24 kinda took a down turn in the last 5 minutes. Still that whole cell scene could have been so much more interesting.

When we first started to get Sky TV in Dublin in the very late 80s and the early 90s we didn’t get the movie channels as a standard package. But we got Sky One and they would run ads for the movies on the movie channels on a regular basis. I saw an ad one night for a submarine movie, and it blew me away. I wanted to see it. Over the course of a week or so I saw the ad many times and each time made me want to see the movie even more. This was my first introduction to “The Hunt For Red October“. There was no way I could, we didn’t have a VCR and never signed up for the movie channels. While I’m not exactly sure I believe that I read the book shortly after that and only saw the movie on normal tv a few years later. It stands out as one of my favourite movies and indeed book. Since then I’ve read most if not all of Tom Clancy’s novels. Some are better than others, but the movie adaptations have generally been disappointing with “Red October” being the only exception. Anyways the point behind all this is that it’s on at the moment. I was bashing around after “Law and Order” and found it so am quite enjoying it. It’s a movie that seems to age very well. Its also really good to see James Earl Jones. I’ve always enjoyed his performances and he does a damn fine job as Greer; “Now, you understand Commander, that torpedo did not self-destruct. You heard it hit the hull, and I..was never here”

On the subject of “CSI” and “Law and Order” are my guilty pleasures on Saturday nights recently. I use to watch “Law and Order” but dropped off because of bad scheduling a long time ago. While Saturday night is not usually good I’m managing to see it every now and again. CSI on the otherhand is repeated on Mondays and that’s how I got into it. It’s become a must watch over the past few weeks that I’ve been following it.

Speaking of guilty pleasures, I have also started following “Teachers” on Wednesday nights on C4. It’s nothing special at all, typical drama comedy thing, but it’s damn sarcastic and I like that.

And new Starman for the flight is now check 🙂 More to come on todays comics at a later time.

I just had a call from a friend I went to college yet a few years ago. It turns out he is in London for the wekend and is wondering if I would like to meet up for a drink. It’s probably two and a half years since I’ve seen him so I am looking forward to a pint or two and a catch up later tonight. 🙂

Right so re my earlier post on reading material for the flight, a sucessfull couple of books shops during lunch has left me with two new books from Dennis Lehane and two from Patrick Robinson.

Now I know that Google would come back to haunt me on this if I allowed it to index these pages, I offer the following link without (much) comment.
Playboys interview with the lovely Aly Hannigan. Comments wise, I think it’s best I say nothing 😉

After playing round with the iMac for a couple of days and a loan laptop I am convinced that Apple have their own idea of time. Most programs are off when they give you an estimated install time, it’s pretty normal. But a 19 minute install started close on two hours ago has still got 8 minutes left to go!

Today was one of the warmest days so far this year or at least it felt like it. For lunch I wandered down Hammersmith with some friends. I was reminded at almost every step why I enjoy the summer and the good weather, quite simple really, skimpy clothing 🙂 or is that quite simple, really skimpy clothing. Either way it’s all good and it made for an even more enjoyable lunchtime, good company and good eye candy. Roll on the real summer 🙂

And since earlier on today thanks to Channel 4 news, I have some clue about what just happened in France and I really can’t believe it. How can someone like that get any sort of significant vote in a civilised country in this day and age?

So for the flights next week I am adding the following to my shopping list. The next two volumes of Starman (this has really grown on me), and something new (well to me anyway) by Denis Lehane and more than likely by Patrick Robinson too.
It has been suggested that a couple of volumes of Cerebus would be good but I’ve never found it to be something I will sit down and read straight, unlike the above.

Some stuff, mainly work stuff but good (or at the least not bad). I have a nice new highish spec iMac sitting on my desk. It’s not quite what I expected but it’s nice enough. Next week I’m going to be in Dulles for some work stuff, while it’s not exactly ideal, we fly out Monday and land around 5pm local time, work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, then fly back at 9am local time and arrive back in the UK at 9pm. I am looking forward to it tho, and I get to see some people that I haven’t in over a year and in fact have not even gotten to talk with much recently. That I am looking forward to a lot.

I just have one project that I have to get out of the way. I’ve only been trying to get rid of it for 6 months or so…

On other notes, I’ve finished two books by Dennis Lehane (Darkness Take My Hand, and Gone, Baby, Gone> both of which I found highly enjoyable and very easy to read. I will be picking more up, in fact I plan to for the flights next week.

Oh and finally yes I know I’m a bad person. This is not news. There will be two presents in the post within 2 1/2 weeks (I’d say a week but see above).
