All Hands

So I had a lot more to drink than I planned. Sometimes I hate my life, I’m going away in the morning, have to leave here at 7am. I now get to look forward to getting up at six, attempting to find and pack everything I need and its looking pretty likely I will be hungover. How fun! I am going to go drink some water in the hope of knocking some of it off but who knows.

Today could have been better, all work stuff and things I don’t really think I want to talk about here for various reasons, but actually had a really good conversation in the pub afterwards which isn’t the type of conversation grunts like me get to have with senior management and I think that was good. It was at the least fun.

‘Connie’ is actually far cuter in person than you would think and quite tall.

Speaking of, I am quite annoyed by the new company awards. A team was given the award for a result achived as a direct result of a team effort between one of our sys dev guys and myself and there was no acknowledgement of that at all. That was not good and I’m not happy nor are several other people.

I just poped out to the shop a moment ago to grab a drink and as I was walking along there was a guy walking towards me. He stopped as he passed me and as if he was asking for directions, nicely and politly said “Excuse me, can I preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to you”. I can’t think of a time before when I have been approached on the street in such a polite fashion and I was kinda impressed. The answer was of course still no but points for effort.

One of the guys I work with likes his away messages and changes them almost daily. They are always good for a laugh or a thought. Todays choice is

Quite an accurate statement.

So I suppose I couldn’t have asked for better. I’m not exactly a people person so walking into a room full of people I didn’t know and joining them was never going to be huge amounts of fun and indeed the only reason I recognised them was the fact that Warren was there. Still all in all it was ok, I met some people who I’ll be going out to dinner with at the weekend and have some names to faces but I really didn’t feel like I belonged. Perhaps some more time on the boards would be a better idea before joining lots more people and even then…ah well just see how it all goes I guess.

Blogger is fixed, the US have just come through and we are testing now. There is a high level of optimism that we will in fact make it today. That would be a good thing. It is a good thing and the next build will be even better. It certainly looks better and I’m working on having it work better too. 🙂

Blogger is bust, wrong time stamps, wrong formatting on the date headers, archives unavailable and javascript errors. Not good 🙁
