So I know I need a holiday, and am indeed fairly badly in need of some time off work, but I didn’t mean permanently. Things have been looking pretty bad for about a week now and I’ve been thinking about the repercussions of a decision handed down. Some news today would seen to lead to the conclusion that pretty soon we will be having yet another round of cuts and logic would dictate that my team is amongst them. This is not good. Of all the things I have to worry about I didn’t want to add this.
Month: May 2002
Ended up down the pub tonight again…yes I know its a habit I need to break. It is not doing me any favours but an old friend who rarely comes out with us was on for “the one” and that makes it all worth it. It was fun, we talked a lot, most of which I guess was comprised of humour and dirty humour at that, but it was a good laugh and it was good to get the time. I had a good night and was even home early in time to watch Buffy tonight (see below).
I have stuff to talk about, but being me I don’t want to as I know people are reading this (yes yes I’m whining etc, live with it) so thats all folks.
Buffy Season 6 Finale
Warning: spoilers 😉
Before we go on, I have to admit that the last 10 seconds of this blew me away and I had not seen that coming. Yes, I am impressed, in fact I am very impressed with that. Overall though I am quite disappointed with the finale. The entire Willow plotline just did not work for me. It didn’t fit in with the character we have seen over the past six years even with the addiction storyline. Saying that I liked the ending and I did think it worked. Personally I would rather have seen Xander kill her and have that end it, but it worked as was. Xander deserved to save the world even if it was predictable. Giles entrance was excellent and it filled the gaping hole that his absence has been this season. Willow looks damn hot with black hair.Dawn did really well, she never annoyed me much and indeed at times I liked her but she worked well in this. A strongish ending to a lacklustre season but could have been so much better. Line of the episode: Darth Rosenberg
Article worth reading Willow, destroyer of worlds , with comments to come from me tomorrow or so on the “anti-gay” possibilities mentioned.
Your attention please.
Iggy Pop’s The Passenger is one of the greatest songs of all time.
That is all.

Users of the TiVo digital video recorder have reacted angrily to a new sponsorship feature that automatically records certain programmes, adverts and other promotional material.
One of TiVo’s more innovative features is its ability to recommend programmes based on viewing habits, such as watching every episode of a soap opera or every film starring a certain actor.
But viewers in the UK were surprised this week to find that the second episode of the little-known BBC sitcom “Dossa and Joe” had been recorded without their knowledge and added to the system’s main menu screen.
They were even more surprised to find that they won’t be allowed to delete the programme for one week, and that more sponsored recordings are on the way.

Now thats just fucked up from El Reg
A good start.
This morning was fucked up. It just didn’t start well. Last night I, as usual set the alarm on my mobile for 8:20. I put my mobile on the other side of the room so I would have to get out of bed to turn it off. This morning I work up and something just clicked as being wrong. After about a second I realised it was way too bright, and I grabbed for anything beside my bed with the time on it. It was 10:38…and my mobile was now beside my bed and not making any noise. I have absolutly no recollection of hearing my alarm, getting out of bed, turning it off, going back to bed and bringing it with me to leave beside my bed.
I was of course late for work. What a start to the week.
Bone
This is my favourite couple of panels from Jeff Smith’s Bone. It is from page 39 of Out From Boneville, the first book in the series which I highly recommend you go out and buy.

What a fantastic piece of drama. I’ve been a fan of Adamn Arkin since I first saw him in Chicago Hope. His scenes with Bradley Whitford were top notch, and completly riveting. Once again West Wing proves there is nothing better on film.
Panic Room.
Just home from seeing Panic Room with a friend. I really enjoyed it, nothing in anyway special but a lot of fun. Worth checking out if you have not seen it already. Forest Whitaker is an excellent actor who really should be leading films on a far more regular basis. Also worth noting the young kid was not in fact annoying and did quite a good job.
