A massive hoax has just been revealed to have been perpetrated on Irish soccer fans in anticipation of the games in Japan/Korea due to begin on 05/31/02. Tricksters based in Belfast, Ireland, hacked into SkySports.Com and BBC On-line, posting false reports that Mick McCarthy has sent team captain Roy Keane home, after an outburst by the player in an interview with the Irish Times newspaper. The rumours began to filter back to Saipan around midday GMT, 20:00 EAT, leading to a hastily convened press conference, in which McCarthy insisted he had the full backing of Keane, despite the controversy which has dogged the squad over the last 24 hours.

Stop Press!

The Information Age was dealt a stunning blow Monday, when a factual error was discovered on the Internet.

The Onion I rocks.

VATICAN CITY—Calling forgiveness “one of the highest virtues taught to us by Jesus,” Pope John Paul II issued a papal decree Monday absolving priest-molested children of all sin.

The Onion II rocks.

I have better things to do with my time than fill in a survey that is 10 pages long and asks me the same fucking question 7 times yes 7 times on the first page alone. Fuck them, I’m going to actually do some work. Fuck this shit

I have felt better before, I have also felt worse. I am in work and trying to catch up on everything I have missed. Right now I’m working on a new toolbar, one advantage of being away art is all done and I can go ahead and make some changes.

naive | idealism

naive
t adjective (of a person or action) showing a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgement: the rather naive young man had been totally misled.

Sometimes I wonder how much this applies to me. I don’t usually think so but recently some things have made me think otherwise. Maybe it is more a case of

idealism
t noun [MASS NOUN] the practice of forming or pursuing ideals, especially unrealistically: the idealism of youth.

Maybe it’s both, maybe my idealism is naive. I have kept it in mind recently when talking about some stuff and indeed working for some stuff but I wonder how much it does apply.

Netscape 7 Preview | 24 on DVD

Netscape 7 PR1 I can only hope this is a better preview than the preview of NS6 was. I like the idea of AIM in the sidebar a lot. I’ll have to try and remember to check this out on a machine in work tomorrow.

24 R2 released on 19 August. Pre-orders available at Blackstar, but I’m going to wait and see what Play list it as.

Stupid stupid rat creatures

Over the weekend I started reading Jeff Smith’s Bone. The only word I can think of to sum it up is charming. It’s a sweet innocent fun and funny tale. It seems that recently I’ve been reading a lot more comics with comedy themes or aspects. The first time the phrase “stupid stupid rat creatures” is used cracked me up. The plot of Bone is very simple and I quote
After being run out of Boneville, the three BONE cousins, Fone Bone, Phoney Bone and Smiley Bone, are separated and lost in a vast, uncharted desert. One by one, they find their way into a deep, forested valley filled with wonderful and terrifying creatures…

I read the first 3 volumes back to back at the time and I’m looking forward to reading the others.

Moby‘s new album: 18 has gotten a lot of play (ha ha get it?) over the past couple of days. Although it is so not my taste in music track 17 Rafters is very catchy an uplifting. Harbour with Sinead O’Connor on vocals is pretty excellent and I do like We are all made of Stars…so sue me. It’s not as good as Play which I have much love for, but it is a worthy follow-up.

Blogs of Communication II

I now feel I am a full part of blog culture. I have 4 different blogs making posts based on posts of my own over the past 48 hours *proud grin* well not really, it’s just strange and something I will go on to make a point about, but surely two people (or more) sharing opinions is a conversation? So I shared my thoughts on something, and someone responded with their opinions. I replied to clear up some of mine and others have posted theirs based on that.
Isn’t one of the main joys of blogs that you can read someone’s opinion on something and then if you wish respond to their opinions or be simply prompted to give your own thoughts on the matter? I mean hell isn’t that one of the base parts of the internet nevermind blogs?

Look at the top right of this page, thoughts rants and random musings. Hell that sums it up. Reading this again while spellchecking I just wanted to state that while it can read quite combative, it’s not intended to be honestly.

Joke of the Day

Deal of the day: Star Trek The Motion Picture Special Edition DVD £23

I bought it for £18 at Play, Amazon has it for £20, doesn’t anyone check little things like this?

The students at Marlborough College in Wiltshire were part way through the AS-level exam when several looked up and noticed indecent pictures being relayed onto a large screen. The invigilator, maths teacher Richard Jowett, appeared to have been looking at the material on his personal computer, forgetting it was linked up to the monitor.
