The England – Denmark match is on at the moment. I cannot think of a better time to go shopping, but first

COME ON DENMARK!

Condom Ads

Oh yeah. I saw somewhere recently that the UK had its first terrestrial tv ad for condoms shown during Big Brother last week. It reminded me of something from 7 or 8 years ago. I was sitting the lounge watching tv. My mom was helping my sister with her homework. I think it was MTV I was watching and it was pretty early in the evening, before six for sure. There was a Durex ad on and my mother asked me what I was watching that showed ads like that at that time of the day. I find it quite funny actually looking back. I would have thought that ads about condoms should be shown at times like that specifically. In this day and age shouldn’t kids be aware of them from an early age… and fuck me I feel old. Goodnight folks.

Greenpeace will now oppose everything.
Amsterdam (SatireWire.com) — Known for its long-standing opposition to whaling, logging, strip mining, genetically modified food, nuclear power, the chemical industry, wars, corporations, politics, and weapons, the activist group Greenpeace today announced that as of 12:01 this morning, it will just oppose everything.
“It’s all bad, it all needs to stop,” said a Greenpeace spokesperson, who added the group will no longer send out action alerts calling for opposition to specific issues, but will instead issue daily alerts to all members that read, “No” in 37 different languages.

Food of Life or something…

At one of the WEF satellite forums the question was asked to picked the greatest song intro ever, and you could only list one. Fucking tough question in the end it had to be Sunday Bloody Sunday by the one and only U2. It got me thinking however and rooting through my cd collection. There is so much wonderful music out there.

My cd collection is in a pretty appalling state. I have a lot in work and a lot at home. Unfortunately they are quite mixed up too, I have covers at home and the cds in work and vice-versa. I’ll get around to sorting it out soon. I need to pick up some cd racks aswell. Back in Dublin I had all my albums arranged, with all artists together and in release order and it was so nice. Now they are just piled up in work or in a box in the corner at home and I hate it. I wanted to dig out my U2 albums (I’m listening to Boy at the moment) and I actually had to go looking for them and I don’t even have them all here. I have over 30gb not being used on my iMac in work and I could probably clear another 5gb worth of junk off of it so I think I’ll backup all the stuff I want in work and bring it all home and get it sorted.

Anyways music is beautiful, I don’t really know what else to say. There is so much out there that is so wonderful and I love. I wish I could just listen to my entire record collection in the space of a few moments just to have the joy of everything there. That would rock. Grabbing the U2 stuff out I picked up my REM collection some Moby stuff and some of Radiohead’s older stuff and its all just calling out to me to be listened to.

News of the day.

Channel 4 seem to have suddenly taken notice that Angel is not a kids show. They use to show it at 6pm on a weeknight. This time the new season is going out at 10:30 on a Saturday and its getting a lot of advertising, and a lot of prime time advertising. I wonder what brought on the change. This is a good thing 🙂

Intro. to 24 Season 7

“Right now, aliens are plotting to take over the earth. My wife and daughter have been replaced by android clones. And there’s a giant spider with the face of Richard Nixon grinning at me from across the room. I’m federal agent Jack Bauer, and I’ve been taking way too much speed this week…”

Go with the flow

I’ve done it occasionally here (not in a while though) and I’ve just done it on a board that I visit. I’ve noticed it in im sometimes aswell. Its very easy to sit back and to type, at least I find it quite easy, especially if you are typing about someone, I often write a sentence and then go back on it but I’m working on that. One of my prior bosses did the same and we would often comment when we were dealing with tricky situations that you reply to the mail, send it to yourself and then get on with the real reply.

In fact, I don’t know if I still have it but in all my time at my current company there is one email that I am more proud of than most other things. I was damn unhappy when I received a mail, it was about a project which had gone bad, I’m sure a couple of you can guess what it was. I wasn’t even all *that* angry about it, I was very unhappy with everything to do with it. It was late in the afternoon and I knew I wasn’t able to write a reply to it. So I didn’t I left it alone and I carried on. Later that night I was thinking about it and I was actually in the shower at the time and it struck me of the right way to respond. So I finished in the shower, poped online and wrote it out and as I was writing it I just knew that it was a good email. I remember dealing with everything it brought up and more importantly dealing with it well.

Anyways back onto the point, when I type something out that maybe I don’t actually want to out and say, or maybe that I do want to say but I just don’t actually want to say it. That makes sense to me, I hope your still with me. Anyways there is quite a psychological build up to pressing the enter button (or in my case ctrl +Enter), and once you reach that point where you just hit the keys its all ok. I mean while I may not have actually wanted to go and tell someone nevermind an entire fucking message board that little fact once I hit the buttons it brought that little more something…clarity maybe? peace of mind? balance? There is a word or phrase that fits in there but I can’t think of it.

It can be quite a dangerous barrier, and it can lead to a lot of trouble, but its not always a bad thing. I hope this has in someway made sense to you, if not tough it did to me and this my blog so there ;p
