oh fuck it

I am on my now fourth attempt to write a post about blogs by people that I know. I am just not getting anywhere with it. Partly because I don’t know what I want to say, partly because I don’t know how to say what I want to say. Roll on the day when I can do this all by thought and it will all make a pretty picture on a page. The jumble of thoughts at the front of my head would just float out, enter the screen and write themselves. You would understand perfectly what I am thinking and why and blah blah blah.

Fuck it. I read some blogs simply because I know the person blogging. I think that I would read blogs by any number of people that I know just because. Simple as that. I don’t need a reason which is a good thing because I don’t have a coherent one which I can share with you. I blog for me, but I am aware of my “audience”. It is restricting at times, then again sometimes I just don’t give a fuck.

I have several friends who read this, and I guess I’m talking about work people again now, it is something I had been thinking about when I started thinking about this. I could build something into this page to actually track down the people from work who read this (I think). I would love to see the results of that but it wouldn’t exactly be right ya know. There is a reason or at least a start off point for all of this and it was something that struck me after I blogged something earlier today and yet again I’m just not able to type out what I think. It just makes no sense on the screen in front of me.

So hey you feel free to comment on this you know just click here:

Oh and finally a correction to an earlier post. I’m not laughing on the inside…I’m crying on the inside.

Pool

So tonight was fun. Just a few of us and we played for a couple of hours. All in all pretty good and no problems at all. I found out that onen of the guys hadn’t been as drunk and out of it as I thought and he claimed and in fact remembered who I was talking about….ooops.

Also it is worth noting that the girl who has moved next to me for a couple of weeks is a) a lovely girl and b) quite cute.

The fossilised remains of prehistoric giant lions and other mammoth creatures have been discovered in caves in Western Australia.

Operation Leo, carried out in three caves on the Nullabor Plain, unearthed Australia’s first complete skeleton of a giant marsupial lion – Leo – as well as the world’s biggest kangaroo and a wombat the size of a small car.
Australia unearths fossilised giants

Interesting on Blogdex right now, the third story listed is a story on CNN (Sources: No bodyguards, no bin Laden) speculating that Bin Laden is dead and the fourth link is from United Press (Report: Bin Laden alive, preparing attack ) speculating that he is alive and more attacks will occour in August.

Ouchie, next time I’m laid off I certainly would not like to find out by visiting my companies website.

Pool Night

Tonight is our somewhat irregular pool night. A few of the guys from this department get together every couple of months and head down to a local pool hall. The evening is quite simple, we get a special double burger meal they do (which is pretty damn good) we get some pitchers of beer in and we get a couple of tables and have some fun for a few hours. I usually really enjoy it. A couple of people who don’t get to come out as often as they use to (read: under the thumb) make efforts to join us on pool nights and its good to catch up. Tonight looks to be a pretty small crowd for various reason which is fine….except that I really don’t like everyone going tonight. Its going to be a pain I know, just hoping that others will make up for it and a good night will be had by all.

Two pretty cool articles from wired this morning:
A company called ProQuest has digitized every back issue of the Times, from cover to cover. Every news article, editorial, photograph, cartoon and advertisement is included, and using a fully searchable file, readers can see articles as they

Over a stretch of desolate prairie in Saskatchewan, Canada, Fournier will take 2.5 hours to ascend to 40,000 meters (131,200 feet) in a 95-meter-high, helium-filled balloon that has been specially designed for the attempt. Here at the very edge of space, at an altitude four times the height of Mount Everest, he will leap from his craft to begin a six-minute descent that will see him reaching supersonic speeds between 1,200 and 1,600 kilometers per hour (between 745 and 1,000 mph).
The Man Who Will Fall to Earth

I have to laugh this morning. One of the girls from production has moved into the spare desk next to me for a couple of weeks in order to improve her technical skills by working with another team on this floor. I’m laughing on the inside.

So I have bad grammar and bad spelling. This I knew. Normally I spellcheck my posts, I prefer to go ahead and type them out and worry less about spelling than about actually typing them. Afterwards I normally spellcheck them in AOL. It has been suggested I check grammar aswell….that would mean using Word. I will have to think about it.

And at some stage soon I will remember to talk about the signature nazis and be inclined to do so.

Late August is looking far more likely for traveling. This will have to be thought about. Coming back in late October is going to cause some thinking. Still matters are being escalated and a answer will hopefully be on the way quickly.

By the way…

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before and indeed look to your top right. One of the few main purposes of this place is to let me vent 😉

“It is not an overstatement to describe the arrests in Tulia as an atrocity. The entire operation was the work of a single police officer who claimed to have conducted an 18-month undercover operation. The arrests were made solely on the word of this officer, Tom Coleman, a white man with a wretched work history, who routinely referred to black people as “niggers” and who frequently found himself in trouble with the law.”

“Best British Blog award”
I’m not taking part in this, I never even considered it. Even if I ran an in anyway readable decent blog I still wouldn’t even think about. The contraversy going on around it however has been interesting and this to and fro between some interested and involved parties is interesting. Check it out: Guardian Unlimited | Weblog competition a ‘bloody stupid idea’?

Today

It has been around 32 degrees all day, that is 90 for all you Yanks. In itself, that is quite hot but my main problem has been the 40% humidity. Its just horrible.

Anyways today’s new music is two Best Ofs, Bruce Springsteen and Thin Lizzy.

So, I keep getting told to either calm down or be patient. Pat is being an asshole and well my boss is reading this 😉 I really don’t think its unreasonable that a date be firmed up for the move. Afterall the provisional date is now 10 days away. I mean I could be leaving for up to 3 months (I certainly hope its not that long) in 10 days. I’m starting to work on the assumption that will slip but what if it doesn’t?

I really don’t care that its not important to the business when we go. It is damn important to me. I have repeatedly pointed out it is one of my most important questions. This could be solved with a phonecall or at least a better answer forthcoming. The phrase the second or third week of August keeps getting used and in all fairness Dave was taken aback when I reminded him that he was the one who pointed out that to start the second week would mean leaving next week. *sigh* anyway that is enough of that.
