So I came online and I got an IM with a link to a blog type thing that I was told was worth reading but came with the caveat that it was interesting and ya know I can’t really believe I’m gonna post a link to this but it is interesting in a strange kinda way. The author is very articulate and having read it all, I have to admit I found it entertaining and worth reading…if a tad err interesting in places.
Month: July 2002
Listen to me people
“Here is the spreadsheet, here is the caveat. Work around this 1% of the project for a couple of days till we get our next build. Get cracking on the rest no problem.
No, we don’t understand I’ll check with my boss but we won’t do it till you fix that problem.”
Someone else comes along…says exactly the same thing I did…sure I’ll get started on it right now (and she does) promising email updates the next day.
for FUCK sake.
Banging my head off a wall again….
Yet again we are at a situation where I fail to see the point in any of it actually, fuck this shit. *sigh*.
I am the passenger
Why is it that my floor has the least amount of talent on it in the building? *sigh* The quick visits to other floors really show whats missing. The Tube strike today has had a not insignificant change in the numbers around, the floor is half empty. I wasn’t too bad, got in within abou 45 min. Going on lunch now.
The Big Fella
I’m reading a biography of Michael Collins by Tim Pat Coogan at the moment (Amazon) and its a fascinating piece of work. It is generally considered the definitive biography of Collins and one of many in a series on modern Irish history by Coogan. I started in on Saturday I believe and unusually for me I’ve not made much headway into it. I’ve read about 170 pages so far and given today is Thursday and I’ve been reading more because I’m enjoying it and I’ve been taking the bus to work so even more reading time its kinda strange. I guess its just a case of having to pay more attention to it and of course its a harder read. By that I mean it is not fiction and as such it doesn’t flow quite so freely, its following events and the results of those events.
In other news, last night I went home and took it easy, played some Bond. I beat it a couple of nights ago but I’m going back for all the hidden extras and medals and shit. I watched the last 30 min of ER aswell. C4’s ads during the week had worked. I use to watch it when it first started off years ago and was solid drama but just never really felt like keeping up with it after the second season of so. It was ok, nothing great considering what was happening. I would have thought there would be a lot more reaction and ya know spend more than a minute at the funeral. Went to bed shortly after that ended and slept a lot better last night. 🙂
I’ve just watched Steve Jobs keynote address from MacWorld in NYC and I have to admit to being very impressed. The i family is coming along really nicely. Standouts are iSync, the new iPods and the new range of iMacs.
My head hurts, I need more sleep. I need my Mac to be faster so this install is done and I’m rebooted and back to work. Fuck it all to hell.
Still in the Spider “Give me Information” mode….
Jesus fuck, I hate being patronised by people who have not got a goddamn fucking clue what they are talking about. Ya know patronising is a good thing but have the fucking decency to patronise about something you know about.
“Maybe I will never be, all the things that I want to be, but now is not the time to cry, now’s the time to find out why”

Ok this is pretty strange. I wanted to post a link to the story about the IRA apology. I hit Unison.ie and Ireland.com and both are now register for access. Checking out news.bbc.co.uk I’ve gone 3 links deep into World and UK and I can’t find it. Ah ha, if I head down another level to Northern Ireland I find the story and I get a 404, here however is the IRA statement in full.
It is an impressive statement in style and content.

So I still don’t know quite what I’m thinking about the entire thing. I’m hoping to have a clearer picture tomorrow but I suspect it is just a hope.
This just in: the Internet is not a fad.
Sigh, one edited post. It was all said in jest, fuck I really need to get more sleep. I’ll try tonight. I’m gonna go home, play some Bond. I suspect I will watch some more West Wing, I was looking on the IMDB quotes page (here) for it and marveling at the writing skills. So I think I will just watch some season 1 again tonight.
Victory is mine, victory is mine, great day in the morning people, victory is mine. Donna, bring me the finest muffins and bagels in the land.
and of course the fucking meeting didn’t happen because the person with the information couldn’t make it.
