I headed out shortly after 5 with the intent of going to the cinema to see xXx. It was however sold out by the time I reached the cinema. I wandered up to the other cinema thinking about Red Dragon, but I wasn’t really in the mood for it. The book shop next door was open so I poped for a quick look. I picked up the The Demolished Man by Alfred Bester. I really enjoyed the last book of his I read The Stars my Destination.

I wasn’t sure what I was gonna do for the evening now and I was wandering around the bottom of Kings Road heading towards Worlds End. The second hand book shop was open so I poped in there and found a few books. Nothing really special but stuff to add to the ‘to read’ pile. When I came out I noticed a new Starbucks across the road. Now we are talking 5 minutes walk from my place so that is good news 🙂 Anyway I figured I would go in get a coffee and read for a while so I did. When that closed up around 7ish I started walking back home. Passing by my local I noticed (ok I was looking) that the comfortable couches were free. So I sat there for the next couple of hours reading.

Enjoying the book a lot so far. This alongside ‘Stars’ is considered Bester’s best work and indeed two of the most influential sci-fi books of the 50s and indeed still to these days.

According to AICN, Tom Cruise will be playing Dirk Pitt in an adaption of Clive Cussler’s Sahara. This is just so very wrong.
