As Tony Blair announces that security services are warning of terrorists threats on a daily basis, I am leaving the country.
My alarm is set for 06:00 (ugh). I am meeting Patrick at 08:00 and then we are off to Heathrow then Tokyo.
I am now getting excited, but I’m nervous aswell. I don’t quite know why but I am. Once I get going tomorrow I hope everything will settle down and I can look forward to a fucking great holiday. At the very least I’m not going to be in work for two weeks. Right now that is a damn good thing. Maybe I will be able to come back all refreshed and raring to go. Anything is possible I guess.
Seen as I have not had a proper holiday in over two years, I feel this is very overdue and could do me the world of good. I also still have some time left to take off by the end of the year so I’m looking forward to hitting Dublin for a weekend after I get back and still having time to do a couple of long weekends.
Hopefully with being up late tonight and especially after only getting five hours sleep last night I shall be able to sleep sometime into the flight tomorrow for a few hours. Given that we land at 10:00 on Wednesday. Not having slept by then will really screw up the day. Ah yes I need drugs at the airport. For a thirteen hour flight I want something to help me sleep.
I kinda don’t want to sleep. I’m reminded of when I use to go away with my family. The night before everyone would be up late getting the last minute stuff (like packing) done. When it was all ready it would usually be pretty late. Mind you we are talking 7 – 10 years ago, so by quite late I meant midnight. And then off to bed. There was always this atmosphere, which I can’t describe, well actually I can thinking about it. It was anticipation, Plain and simple. Right now I am actually a little happier as I just logged into my bank and the balance was healthier than I had expected.
If I didn’t want to be able to blog, I wouldn’t be bringing my laptop. I really wouldn’t, I could do with the break. But I really want to be able to run the blog of the time in Japan along with some photos so the laptop comes with me. Ideally I will dial up from the hotel every few days and update, I have just set up the phone numbers. In reality we shall see how it all goes. I suspect Patrick and I have different ideas of what we want from this holiday.
