I always thought the quote was ‘full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes’, just a little muddled up I guess.
Flying back from Tokyo on Sunday, we few right over Siberia. There were no clouds. The view of the mountains and crevices covered in snow was absolutely stunning. I really regret not taking out my camera. Still I remember it and it was pretty.
Damn. I’m now sitting on my bed laughing out loud. Really I am. That last line can be ever so slightly rephrased to bring in a whole other topic which has been on my mind for a while.
Still I remember and she was pretty.
(Quick background; my sister is studying in Tokyo for a year). After we arrived I met up with my sister. I had brought some stuff over for her and etc , etc. So it was the Friday night I think, yes it was. I met up with her at one of the meeting places in Shibuya. I wanted to go out for the night (Friday night in Tokyo, who wouldn’t?) but of course knew no-one and had no idea where to go. So she was going out with a group of friends and I was joining them. Well, anyways we met up and went for some drinks. Anyways once we get inside and are sitting down.
One of her friends looked very familiar. Once I had a good luck at her, it was completely apparent. There was a hell of a lot more than a passing resemblance to someone who was very important to me a long time ago. I was thinking about this earlier today and I get to say a long time ago, because it all kicked off about ten years ago. (fuck me, I’m old). Yes, I was very young then, but this whole thing was going on for six years I guess. When I think its going on five years since I last saw her and indeed so many other people, I just can’t believe it.
Anyway I saw her friend a couple more times over the time in Tokyo and every time I was struck by the resemblance. It was a little unnerving.
