Buffy made me laugh a number of times and moved the plot forward a little. All in all a solid episode with a great Mad Max homage
24 4pm – 5pm is still the most gripping show on tv. I really don’t get it. I’m never in a rush to sit down and watch it, I’m not all that pushed to get the next episode as soon as I can but then I watch it and its just as good as that was. Man the cast on that show is really really top notch. Yes, some of the stuff is far-fetched and would someone please just kill Kim but the writing can be really spot on.
( ) by Sigur Ros is the choice of the moment and its just amazingly beautiful. I have to get some more to a friend tomorrow or so but that also leads me onto a topic.
Piracy. I had a conversation about this with a friend a few days ago. I don’t mind it in some cases for example were I to watch say Buffy via encodes I download, I do not have a problem with this. I buy the dvds when they come out. WB will be getting my money for the show. I’ve given up on other shows like Enterprise as it doesn’t entertain me. I suspect I shall buy the dvds as it is Trek and handy to have around to pick one and watch. 24 isn’t something I bought on dvd and it isn’t something I would be planning to buy on dvd. Maybe if it was cheap in a sale but other than that I don’t see much re-watchability in it. So I don’t know maybe a little guilt?
Other stuff, Saturday or so I had this sudden feeling something had happened in work the day before. It got to me so much at first I nearly rang a couple of people to check, but I thought that was just silly. So when I went in this morning I was expecting some things to have changed. I did think it was that someone wouldn’t be there having had enough but turns out it was nothing. Strange.
More other stuff. Last night I cleaned out my old email accounts. The dead addresses from up to 5 years ago. They really get fuck all but spam in them. Out of about 1000 messages over 4 accounts (thank fuck for quick webmail) there were 3 mails I read. So that’s more than 99% shit. However one of the mails was just a forwarded joke from an old friend in Dublin. I had tried to send her an email before letting her know my new address (I can’t reply through old accounts) but never heard anything back. I noticed she used a new address this time, from a Dublin college that I was pretty sure was valid. So I sent off a quick mail.
One long response arrived this afternoon. I can’t remember the last time I talked to her, she moved to Galway just before I moved to London and her details were among the stuff I lost. I think it was sometime in the middle of 1999 when we were last in touch. Now her current address is in my address book and we have started catching up. That my friends is pretty damn fucking cool and I am happy I guess is the word about that. The internet rocks.
Speaking of the internet. This is the twenty-first century, where are my toys? I grew up on sci-fi and futuristic stuff and I was promised all these toys. Where are they? I want a constant VR internet. I want to be able to blog with a thought (or even a keyboard on my arm and some snazzy glasses). I want to be able to be online all the time, I want to be able to have an im conversation as if it were any other conversation while I’m on the bus. I want it all. I want to be wired up. Implants, plug ins, add ons, bring them on. Sign me up. I want to be wired.
Six degrees of separation and all that. I find it interesting to note that through one person if counted up I can be considered connected to over 860 people. Thats a big number
That’s about that for the random thoughts. They didn’t come out as eloquently as I had planned but….and yes, this time I am going to fucking well spell check my post. Many thanks to the person who corrected a misspelling in both my last posts.
