Right some catch-up stuff. X-Men laid the groundwork and was a little patchy in places. X2 just made the franchise. The opening scenes with Nightcrawler just plain rock. Alan Cumming is perfect as Kurt Wagner and Nightcrawler is the Nightcrawler we know and love. Other highlights are Magneto’s prison break, the assault on the mansion, a brief but full of potential cameo from Colossus, many many almost too quick to see X-Men geek nods and that ending.
I’ll say more when I see it again.
Buffy “Empty Places”. An example of how badly my brain was working today, I had a new episode with Faith in it…and I waited for hours to get around to watching it. It was very much filler tho. The plot is getting more and more contrived and the show has lost a lot of it’s touch. With only a few more episodes to go, I’m hoping for more.
My head feels fuzzy. As if there was this layer of something covering it. I’ve spent a lot of the day reading or just hanging around doing nothing.
Speaking of reading, I finished The Crow Road a couple of days ago. What a great book. I don’t know what to say about it other than I loved it and I loved the characters. They just all fell into place perfectly within a couple of chapters and not only that fell into place so well that I cared about them from the word go. I shall be reading more by Mr. Iain Banks within the near future.
I’m not really feeling much better I’m afraid. My throat is burning and there hasn’t been any whiskey involved. This is both a bad thing (the burning) and a bad thing (the lack of whiskey).
Blogs have been on my mind a lot over the past few days. In fact I spent a hell of a lot of time thinking about some aspects of them on Monday night. I had a couple of thoughts which stuck with me since then and I’m going to let it roll around for a while before I actually commit to doing anything about it. Or at least commit to anything in public.
I have some comics dug out to read, the first 8 of the relaunched Captain Marvel the full set of Vertigo Pop: London and I just have to find one more of Paul Pope’s 100%.
Gah, I feel like shit. I shall try and sleep now.
