the saddest songs are played on the strings of my heart.

Right some catch-up stuff. X-Men laid the groundwork and was a little patchy in places. X2 just made the franchise. The opening scenes with Nightcrawler just plain rock. Alan Cumming is perfect as Kurt Wagner and Nightcrawler is the Nightcrawler we know and love. Other highlights are Magneto’s prison break, the assault on the mansion, a brief but full of potential cameo from Colossus, many many almost too quick to see X-Men geek nods and that ending.

I’ll say more when I see it again.

Buffy “Empty Places”. An example of how badly my brain was working today, I had a new episode with Faith in it…and I waited for hours to get around to watching it. It was very much filler tho. The plot is getting more and more contrived and the show has lost a lot of it’s touch. With only a few more episodes to go, I’m hoping for more.

My head feels fuzzy. As if there was this layer of something covering it. I’ve spent a lot of the day reading or just hanging around doing nothing.

Speaking of reading, I finished The Crow Road a couple of days ago. What a great book. I don’t know what to say about it other than I loved it and I loved the characters. They just all fell into place perfectly within a couple of chapters and not only that fell into place so well that I cared about them from the word go. I shall be reading more by Mr. Iain Banks within the near future.

I’m not really feeling much better I’m afraid. My throat is burning and there hasn’t been any whiskey involved. This is both a bad thing (the burning) and a bad thing (the lack of whiskey).

Blogs have been on my mind a lot over the past few days. In fact I spent a hell of a lot of time thinking about some aspects of them on Monday night. I had a couple of thoughts which stuck with me since then and I’m going to let it roll around for a while before I actually commit to doing anything about it. Or at least commit to anything in public.

I have some comics dug out to read, the first 8 of the relaunched Captain Marvel the full set of Vertigo Pop: London and I just have to find one more of Paul Pope’s 100%.

Gah, I feel like shit. I shall try and sleep now.

In a very typical sense of things I’m sitting at home bored. I have a bad headache and walking to the shop and back was no help for it at all. What’s typical is that yesterday one of the lads in work lent me a few movies I have not seen and I want to see. As I didn’t have a bag on me and figured I would not have time to watch them last night I’d lock them in my drawer. So they are (I assume) still there. Fuck.

Saying that, the snooker is on and this Higgins – Doherty match is quite a good game. The 18th frame on now is fairly thrilling actually and ending with some great snooker. I have some 24 and Buffy to watch. Will check out Buffy later but I don’t want to be staring at the screen too much, my eyes are sore so I suspect the 24 will have to wait.

Going to go and read for a while now.

Take the Dante’s Inferno Hell Test

Just watched CSI after heading out for a couple of cokes down the local after work. I’m going to bed in a few moments after watching a little snooker. Buffy is downloading…and nicely. Just over 55k a second coming down. 35% of 423mb in 72 minutes. Shame I don’t get it like that all the time.

Suppose to be playing pool tomorrow night but I’m really not sure I’m going to go. Another early night would be a good thing. As it turns out, my flatmate is apparently going to be away until sometime early next week.

Sleep good.

Fuck. I need to note EVERYTHING on my calendar or I will never ever remember it.

iTunes 4 = awesome.

iTunes Music Store = awesome.

iTunes Music Store only available in the US = FUCKING SHIT.

who cast the final stone?

I can’t concentrate today. It has been a long weekend with no chances for sleeping in and I guess it’s just gotten to me. My head is screaming out for some new music or some different music and I’ve not got anything which fits the bill. Added to that one of my headphones seems to be on the blink and it’s damaging the listening experience quite a bit when it acts up.

We just went out for a belated welcome lunch for a new (well returning really) team member. Headed to the Persian restaurant nearby the office and it was really nice. Great food and a nice couple of hours out of the office.

I’ve sat down to blog a few times over the past few days and very much so today. This particular entry was started and added to since around 11 this morning. I don’t really have that much to say…well I do a little but I just don’t feel like typing it. Saying that, were I not a work now I’m getting to the mood to just keep going.

Heading out to dinner again tonight (that’ll make at least 8 meals out since Saturday) and then home early. I have work in the morning and dad’s on his course. But West Wing is on late tonight so of course I have to stay up for that. I am really glad that this weekend is a long weekend again and can kick back and relax.

And just to make you groan while I think about doing some stupid.

So this guy walks into a bar with his pet monkey. He orders a drink and while he’s drinking, the monkey’s jumping around all over the place.
The monkey grabs some olives off the bar and eats them. Then grabs some sliced limes and eats them. Then jumps onto the pool table, grabs one of the billiard balls, sticks it in his mouth, and to everyone’s amazement, somehow swallows it whole!

The bartender screams at the guy, “Did you see what your monkey just did?”

The guy’s like, “No, what?”

“He just ate the cue ball off my pool table – whole!”

“Yeah, that doesn’t surprise me,” replies the guy. “He eats everything in sight, the little bastard. Sorry. I’ll pay for the cue ball and stuff…”

So he finishes his drink, pays his bill, pays for the stuff the monkey ate, and leaves.

Two weeks later he’s in the bar again, and has his monkey with him. He orders a drink and the monkey starts running around the bar again. While the guy is finishing his drink, the monkey finds a maraschino cherry on the bar. He grabs it, sticks it up his butt, pulls it out, and eats it.

The bartender is disgusted.

“Did you see what your monkey did now?” he asks.

“No, what?” replies the guy.

“Well, he stuck a maraschino cherry up his butt, pulled it out, and ate it!” says the bartender.

“Yeah, that doesn’t surprise me,” replies the guy. “He still eats everything in sight, but ever since he swallowed that cue ball, he measures everything first…”

Right, not really got the time or indeed the inclination to blog today. I intend to blog some tomorrow but I want to state that X2 was excellent and while there were some hints coming up to it, I didn’t see that ending coming at all. It was awesome.
