Some quick stuff.

– Loads of nostalgia these past couple of days. I know why, but it’s extending a lot more than that…or is it?

– Did exactly what I had planned tonight. Headed to the pub, had two drinks with the lads and then came home. Went to ASDA and got everything I needed. Packed for tomrorow and that’s about that.

– It’s really fucking hot here tonight. By the time I was done I was too hot, hence the cold shower. Radiohead then played out the show with Fake Plastic Trees but not a great version. Jools Holland had Stereophonics open the show and moved on to what seems to be a really great new sound for The Dandy Warhols. On the basis of the tune they just played I can see myself laying some money out for an album.

– Looks like there could be some rain for the weekend 🙁

– Sent some emails to catch up with some friends this afternoon.

– Reading and enjoying Alastair Reynolds’ Revelation Space. It’s the first hardcore sci-fi book I’ve tried in a while and it’s pretty damn good so far.

– Sleep now, away till late Sunday night.

You know what’s awesome?

Coming out from a cold shower nice and chilled after a really hot day to sit on your bed and read your email. Flick on the tv as Jonathan Ross says “and here’s Radiohead with their fantastic new single.

That’s awesome.

The Manics and David Gray have just been added to Glastonbury. But the fuckers have got the Manics scheduled for the same time as Sigur Ros. Hmm Sunday night looks like Sigur Ros followed by Doves rather than the Manics and Moby. I’d like to see the Manics, but Sigur Ros will be winning that one I think. Will have to go through the line-up in more detail soonish.

‘Tis a good line up and I booked my train tickets for it today. Looking forward to it lots.

Turns out Metallica may have just been a bad rumour. The various news sites have pulled the story and the organisers are denying it. Damn. Should be still a good weekend, I’m looking forward to it lots.

Just had a nice lunch out with the lads. Sat in the sun, had a beer and a nice Thai. Man, it was good. It really is a beautiful day.

Gotta take it easy and get home tonight. I have a whack of stuff to carry home and then pack and get everything ready. I need to go to ASDA aswell and pick up some stuff.

Listening to a little Sheryl Crow right now. Good music, good for just sitting back and chilling to. Ok so it’s not ideal, I’m in work so I can’t just sit back and chill but I can hope.

For the record, Jim Lee is a fucking good bloke and I’m even more annoyed I missed Bristol *sigh*.

I dislike not knowing where I stand with some people, it’s very disconcerting. Some people can be very hard to read and this can lead to some tension and that’s never a good thing. (Well, except in many one case).

Very strange dreams last night which I fully remember. No doubt brought on by the conversation in the pub and some talk about oh I don’t know, past lives I guess works. It’s interesting to note how some things have changed since way back then. I understand a little more anyway.

Moved onto some Smashing Pumpkins now, Adore as I have mentioned before is one of my favourite albums. Looking forward to seeing Zwan on Sunday night. Have to leave pretty much as they end which isn’t ideal but ah well.

I tidied my desk yesterday.

I got onto the bus this morning to get the train station and the very first thing I see is this beautiful blonde wearing a nice, skimpy see through top. It really was a damn good way to start the day. That and sunshine had me in a really good mood. I only noticed when I was walking down the escalator to the tube line that I was in a really good mood. Seen as it’s Friday that just adds to it all. Man, I love summer.

It’s all a mystery.

I had a good if strange dream last night. I woke up this morning and all was good but thinking about it now I can’t remember the rest. Something is dancing around the edges of my memory and when that clicks (if ever) it should all fall into place. More than likely never will.

I’m again in document hell and I’m really not enjoying it this time around. It’s a pretty fucked up little circle we seem to have found ourselves in today.

There must be a law somewhere which states that whenever you send an email to a large group of people you miss out a few. And of course someone notices or points this out and you just start again.

Tent – check
Rucksack – check
Suntan lotion – check

Pool tonight might be changing to drinks in the sunshine as it’s absolutely lovely outside. Sitting somewhere in the sun would work so much better.

Have a kick-off call for a new project this afternoon. Seen as this will be the next few months of my working life I’m hoping for it to be interesting.

My god it only gets better. Metallica are to play on Sunday at Download. Wow. Unfortunatly we have to leave before Audioslave hit the stage on Sunday night which is quite a bummer. Still get to stay until the end of the Zwan set which is good, I’m looking forward to that a lot.

So I can sit here staring at the screen or I can type some.

Stuff in a list is looking like the best bet I think.

– Not online much in the evenings. I have had this noted by people who are never online themselves! This is entirely down to playing Enter The Matrix. Bullet Time is dragging me back for more and makes it very replayable. Hacking I imagine works wonders on PC but console wise I am a little unsure.

– They are crawling out of the woodwork. I’m talking to 5 people right now, 3 of which I get to talk to about once a blue moon. What’s going on tonight?

– I am going to keep Monday off work, for a couple of other reasons it suits me to be home in the afternoon.

– I’m reading Scaredy Cat by Mark Billimgham and enjoying it. I got into it yesterday figuring I would be waiting a while at the gig and I didn’t mind it getting into bad shape. Good book, seems to be quite a worthy follow-up to his last which I enjoyed a lot.

– I found the wire for my camera which means photos are actually on the way tomorrow. I’m quite happy about this.

– Tickets for Download arrived this morning, so I just have to collect the tent and I think it’s all set and some suntan lotion and then I think it’s all set.

– Owning a place of my own would be so very nice, but it is I’m afraid years off.

– An effort at post-irony which I meant to mention. Coming out of the first Radiohead gig, there were people handing out flyers for The Samaritans. As it happens it was Samaritans week but I found it to be a little funny.

– Well, that was a little strange.

– Lunch was good today. We sat in the park in the sunshine eating good food, playing some chess and chatting.

– Life is not a game to be won, it is in fact a war to be won.

– From the sounds of it, Comics 2003 was a blast and I’m really sorry I missed it. Next year hopefully. *sigh*

– I’m fairly tired, I had intended to be asleep by 11 tonight but that was before I signed on to quickly check my email. It’s not like I don’t know any better!

That’s all folks.

dancing in the dark

There was no support act last night, this surprised me a little. It’s the first gig I’ve been to where there hasn’t been anything before hand. So I was a little surprised when just before 7:30 with no lights, fanfare, no nothing Springsteen just walks onto stage holding his guitar. And that was it, we were off. Starting with an acoustic Born in the USA and playing on for the next 3 hours. I was disappointed not to have a live version of Nothing Man but the rest was great.

I’m playing Enter The Matrix like mad. My plan for this evening involves many many hours of running on walls shooting people and flying through the air guns blazing. The cut scenes really just got interesting, The last Zion lasted only 72 hours? What the hell does that mean? Anyways bullet time is done really well and running across a room taking four guards out with a shotgun in slo-mo is just awesomely cool. This game is gonna take a lot of my time over the next few days…not that I have much.

It’s Wednesday and I’m pretty tired. I’ve got a night out tomorrow playing pool with the lads and then going away early Saturday morning for the Download Festival. Coming back on Sunday night now but I still have Monday booked off. I thought about cancelling but I think perhaps a day off will be good.

Sometime’s it is good to just be able to sort things out and um that’s about it on that.

I don’t know where the lead for my digital camera is, that’s why there are no photos from the past couple of weeks online yet. I’ll have a look tonight I hope.

Today was a good day. To cut a long story short, I spent the day at Stonehenge (pics to follow tomorrow more than likely) with a couple of the lads. It was a good day, the sun was shining as my sunburn can testify to and it wasn’t too busy. We headed out of London by train quite early and then spent about 5 hours wandering around. We went around Stonehenge itself and then did the 6 mile walking round about tour of the surroundings.

Then we found a couple of nice pubs, one outstanding pub on the river with a beautiful garden, had some drinks and headed home.

short stuff
Matrix: Reloaded Second nerdgasm, loved it even more the second time around.
– I broke and bought the Enter The Matrix game and it ROCKS. I’ve been running around on walls and dodging bullets. Awesome.
– There was this very very very fit young lady lying out in the sunshine in close to skin tight A&F baby blue. I feel in love on the spot.
– Picked up the Radiohead single There There, I can see why the b-sides are b-sides. I would love to see thisreach number one tho.
– sunburn is itching badly. Hopeing it will be better in the morning.
– No West Wing today, not good.
– Long weekends are truly superb.
– Love is a very very very strange and powerful feeling. The lack of it suddenly is um sudden and gut punch like. I know someone suffering from this lack at the moment and it’s knocked him back badly, real badly.
– Some old wounds are easily opened, not always painfully, but not exactly comfortably. Ended up talking about some things today which I have not done in a long time.
– Everything I write here is open to interpretation. Your interpretation is wrong unless your happen to be me.
– I need to buy a tent and a rucksack within the next couple of days. Also, some suncream.
– I seem to have fallen out with reading somehow. I’ve not read a book in at least 10 days and I’m resisting starting anything. I’ve read a few comics, but not much.
– Springsteen tomorrow night should be good fun, I’m looking forward to it a lot. I really hope my ticket is where I think it is (lying on my desk in work).
– Just cause.
– I have pics from the last Radiohead gig to put up too.

And lastly, because I’ve not done it in a while, I have a word of the day:

innate
t adjective inborn; natural: her innate capacity for organization.
n Philosophy originating in the mind.
—DERIVATIVES
innately adverb
innateness noun.
—ORIGIN late Middle English: from Latin innatus, past participle of innasci, from in- ‘into’ + nasci ‘be born’.

Bjork was ok, a good version of Hyperballad being the highlight. Good company for the night too.

Got pretty much everything I wanted this afternoon which is very good. I’ve come to Blogger the last couple of nights with the intent to sit down and type lots of important stuff and then loosing that intent almost as soon as the window fully loads.

24 finale was allright but the show really should just be renamed the Jack Bauer Hour of Power for next season. Jumping up, grabbing a guys neck between his legs and snapping it while having a heart attack is just awesome.

Lots of good stuff in to read, will spent quite a bit of time tomorrow doing that too I reckon. Although there may very well be another showing of The Matrix and some pool with the lads in the afternoon/evening.

Very tired now, going to go and read for a while and then sleep for hours and hours and hours.
