Hmm ok the Angel finale was little weak but thank fuck Connor is gone. Some of the Wolfram and Hart stuff was great, the usual excellent badass Wes and just what happened with Gunn in that room? Lilah spent the episode looking sexy as all fuck and her scene with Wes and the contract was great.

Buffy was also kinda weak. I did like the ending where Fray just came right into cannon 100% but it also means that anyone who read it knows what happens next. Seeing the Mayor back for a few minutes was excellent and worked really well for Faith.

Overnight I have 1gb waiting for me on my harddrive. I am now going to go and watch Buffy and Angel but probably in the reverse order.

In other news: gah.

BUI (blogging under the influence)

*snip*

Today was one fucked up day. I’d love to be able to post a number right now but I can’t get to the details. It was 55000+ a few hours ago and I expect that number to have grown by 30000+

It all means nothing tho.

Need sleep now, time for more downloading.

Carrying on in the fine tradition of numerous people from work who shall remain nameless, I met a cute girl while using public transport to get to work and am now stalking her 🙂

here I go and I don’t know why

I am happy to note that thousands of looted Iraqi artefacts have been returned.

I was playing around with some stuff in work this afternoon which I’ve not got to use in a long time and I have to say it was really fucking good. I was amazed at both how much and how little I remembered, in the end it took three of us to actually change two lines of code and another 2 to advise on how to do it. But it was fucking good. Real fucking good. I wish I got to do more of it. Sure the technology we were using is archaic as all fuck but it’s nice, it works, it’s a bit of a challenge and most of all, it’s FUN.

I’ve worked in a call centre, I’m sure I’ve made some mistakes helping people and I’m sure I’ve fobbed people off in the hope they won’t ring back. I’m pretty sure I’ve never made a mistake and then gone right out and in email made completely incorrect statements on behalf of a company. I was forwarded an email this afternoon that I still can’t believe was sent out. I’ve enough problems with an email being sent without being fucking spellchecked and lets not even mention the text speak but to make a flat out incorrect statement as if on behalf of a company AND talk about a company’s partners?
Jesus fuck. You gotta laugh.

we the man!

God I don’t know where to start.

On Tuesday afternoon 14 months of work officially came to an end.

On Wednesday night we partied, naturally we were the first at the party. We left early to ensure we were. We went to the bar and we got some drinks. We sat down in a corner and I don’t quite know how it started but suddenly we were just laughing and it must have been at least 10 minutes before we stopped giggling (in all fairness) like a bunch of school girls. It was just one of those moments. Over the rest of the night as we got very drunk and talked to lots of people and generally partied, every now and again there would just be a moment where one of us just sank back into a chair and sighed. There were moments of giggling fits and as we got drunker many many declarations of who was the man.

Looking back it’s almost cringe worthy but fuck it was a good night and it was well deserved.

This morning was not great, not great at all. However there was no problem coming into work whenever really. So midday it was. I walked in and walked onto the third floor. There was a guy sitting in the desk behind me which was a little unusual and I didn’t have a clue who he was so I kinda stared a little and walked on. I got the two steps to my desk to realise he was sitting in my chair. This threw me a little until a moment later he sticks his hand out going “Dave, how are you doing?”. Then it struck me that of course I knew the guy we worked in Dublin at the same time years ago and have been working together for the last year and a bit. He just didn’t have any hair the last time I saw him and I was completely unable to place him.

So that was the start of my day. A lot of the rest was kinda a daze, but we did get some work done and now I’m at home sitting on my bed, listening to U2 and downloading the Angel season finale.

Oh, I’m reading Espedair Street by Iain Banks and I’m loving it. I don’t know an author who can make me care about characters anything like this much so well and so quickly. There are a few other authors who do make me care like that but it takes a few books in a series before I get to this level. These are all standalone books and within a few chapters I’m left gasping for more. I don’t want this book to end.

You’ve got to laugh sometimes or your going to cry. There was a while this afternoon where I had no clue when it was. I remember saying something to my boss about it being Friday and the end of the week to suddenly think, no hang on it’s only Wednesday when he pointed out it was actually Thursday. But in other ways time has meant a little more over the past few days, minutes being an age and an age being a mere drop in the ocean.

Just as I was about to give up and not even try to put the thoughts in my head down on paper, The Sweetest Thing came on. It’s opening piano notes usually get to me. It’s just one of those moments where I have to briefly close my eyes and just flow with it. I don’t really think I have a point anymore, it’s kinda moved on a little

Tuesday night / Wednesday afternoon we were working on some stuff preparing for the launch. It was a struggle, some of it was just nightmare. I was very stressed out about some stuff and well it was showing. Aside from the loud cursing and sounds of complete exasperation coming from the team (it was not just me) I feel into what is a bad habit I guess but I prefer to think of it as a good thing. When it really got to me and there were a few times it really got to me, I was not taking my hand off my mouse, but picking it up and slamming it down into my mouse mat repeatedly. Now you might ask why this is a good thing, well I’m fairly convinced that on at least one of those occasions if I had actually taken my hand off the mouse I was going to put it through my screen. So, yes it was a good thing.

It’s reasonably safe to assume I’m feeling a little hungover today.

The next time I find out the solution to a problem which plagued me for hours is that I simply forgot to uncomment a single line of code, my reaction will more than likely not be to fall on the floor laughing hysterically. Then again it just might be.

Billie Jean still rocks my world.

Mark Williams just won the championship and it was very well done indeed.

I don’t understand some people. I just don’t understand them. There seems to just be this huge gap between us and the common ground is so very small. I don’t know if I ever will understand it and I don’t know if anything can ever to done to change the situation.

Cliques are interesting. I guess it’s quite natural that as time goes on, the established become more established and it takes so much more to become established. If in the strictest defination of ‘clique’ outsides aren’t welcomed, well it can’t live a very long life with just the same few people without turning into such a shadow of it’s original self.
