Irreversible

Jesus fuck how did this not get cut to shreds? It’s rare that on screen violence makes me turn away but that just did.

And about 20 minutes later, it happens again. There are some quotes from the director saying that he made this movie to shock, well he did.

I had heard that the second season of Smallville really started to pull together and the stuff I’d seen to date indicated the same. I enjoyed tonight’s episode quite a bit and it’s getting close to being something worth making time for each week. I note that the episode with Christopher Reeve is on in two weeks time and I will be watching this.

I watched Clay Pigeons this afternoon it wasn’t bad but nothing special. A little rain took the park out of play. It was nothing major and walking in it was good but it was enough to make the ground too wet to sit on so read on my couch for a while instead.

Just 3 days in work this week and I can’t wait.

Suffice it to say I slept well last night.

In late August a group of us are planning on doing a canal holiday. We are going to rent a barge and set off for a week. Head along a canal stopping at various places along the way and enjoy a quiet week in the countryside. Really should sit down and sort it out soon. A quick google has brought up some fairly reasonable rates and many choices. It would be good to get it all sorted. It’s been years since I’ve been fishing and the plan also involves getting some rods for the week and chilling.

Now I’m really getting into countdown mode. Just three days left in work and I have a week off. The weather forecast is looking like a bute. No rain and temperatures in the mid 20s for the 5 days or so. I fucking love it.

So a short walk later… fuck, the map reckons it was 9 miles.

I’ve been meaning to walk to Piccadilly Circus ever since I moved over here. It’s close enough to walk in an hour or so. Walked along the Thames as far as parliment, then up to Piccadilly. Not the shortest way to get there but it took about an hour. I was going to get a bus home at that stage but didn’t think it was worth it so I kept walking.
I think my legs might regret this in the morning.

For the time being, some sleep, perchance to dream.

Well that was interesting and more than a little hard to watch in places. I don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t that. I can’t say I enjoyed it because I didn’t but I’m very glad I saw it. I don’t think I’ll watch it again but I’m glad I saw it.

It’s late and I’m tired. I don’t want to sleep and I don’t feel like another movie right now so I’m going out for a walk I’ll be back online in a bit.

I watched The Laramie Project this evening. Fantastic ensamble cast but none of them really get to do anything. It wasn’t great.

Returned the dvds to Blockbuster and picked up some more:
Bowling for Columbine
I never got around to seeing this in the cinema so it’s about time I rented it, I’m looking forward to it a lot.
Clay Pigeons
I know nothing about it but it came highly recomended from a guy in work who has quite similar taste to me so I thought I would give it a try.
Irreversible
Cult French movie from last year which I’ve heard a lot about and wanted to see for a while so it made the list.

So tomorrow afternoon is more than likely to involve the park again followed by a movie evening.

Tonight’s going to be another Blockbuster night I think. I also want to spend some time reading and there are a couple of particular photos I want to take. The sun is shining and it’s a clear blue sky so wandering around should be good. Sitting the park reading is also on the list of things to do.

I like weekends like this, I really do.

However having said that, the local work pub is having a party and bbq all day and running late night and I’m tempted to pop along to that for a while. It sounded like it was going to be lots of fun.

I have to do some shopping for Glastonbury too and lots of stuff to get ready. I can’t do it Wednesday night as I would typically do as I’m going straight from a work function to see R.E.M.
