– interesting the connections that turn up.

– some people are completly unreliable.
– it’s really nice outside today.
– very happy that tomorrow is Friday.
– going to watch American History X tonight and then sleep early.

I have just managed to fix an error I made 4 years ago. It’s very sad and geeky but it made me a little happier today.

I have to review a 49 page technical document to attend a 5 hour summit this afternoon. As my boss on holiday, I shall be covering for him at this summit. I found out about this 20 minutes ago.

3 pages into the document I’m lost. The time lines on it make no sense at all and the damn code names make even less sense.

Finished Revelation Space. I fucking loved the concept of the Cerebus/Hades origin and quite enjoyed the ending overall but I felt a little let down. There had been so much build up and while some of it workd, quite a bit of it felt like it was just old ground being re-tread. Started the sequel Chasm City today and the first few chapters are a lot of fun. Hoping for more good stuff as it goes along.

Watching Run Lola Run at the mo, but it’s kinda meh so far.

So I came across the rest of my diaries in tonight’s cleaning. After a little (ok more than a little) cringing, I found that on this day in:

2002
I had the day off work. It was raining heavily outside and I spent a lot of the day playing Rogue Leader on my Gamecube.

1998
I was in college for the day and I stayed on afterwards with some friends playing snooker in the canteen. I stopped off a friends house on the way home to collect some videos.

1997
I rewatched King Lear and Wuthering Heights as my first Leaving Cert (end of secondary school) was the following day and it was of course English. I was also very not ready for these exams and I knew it.

1996
I spent the day at a friends house where we played Mortal Kombat on his Super Nintendo for the day.

1995
I went to the village bookshop where I picked up a number of books, nothing really of note I would appear. I cut the grass that afternoon and I was looking forward to Star Trek: Voyager starting. (Ah the naivety of youth)

1994
I was feeling much better after the sea sickness and was on a coach from the port to Paris city centre.

Flicking through randomly brought a couple of entries about a girl I had such a crush on. One year had an entry to actaully ask her out as my fourth new year’s resolutuon for that first of January and then later it had a note about an evening we were both at a con in London with a gang of friends. I’ve not seen her or spoken to her in at least 4 years now. I did hear some news about her fairly recently and I’m really glad to hear she is doing well and happy, of course I never did ask her out.

I feel bad. I knew it was around now and it’s been at the back of my mind for a couple of weeks but I’ve not really been thinking about it and rereading my blog entry for last year stunned it back home.

Gah. It feels like so much more than two years.

Wired article on Spam

Wired feature on the Slammer worm, some good stuff.

a) My spam filter is a BAD BAD thing and has now caused me hassle after causing others hassle for some time. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

b) My computer crashed badly about an hour ago. It took me over 30 minutes to get it running again and it’s still shaky.

c) Starting to learn the basics of Red Hat 7 and it’s mail system. I’ll be looking after our box in a few weeks so the basics would be good. Hope to get a chance to play at some stage too.

Gah, somewhat drunk right now. Watching West Wing and not blogging.
Sleep after then followed by more sleep and quite possibly a hangover. In the morning there shall be laughing at some silly person who after 5 pints had 3 tequilas and 6 whiskeys. I gave up after the four pints.

In typical V fashion we are holding a poll as to whether the troll trolling us at the moment is a troll. The only option to vote for is yes.

Unlike many other forums trolls are often welcomed and toyed with for days. This usually leads to great amusement for all concerned…expcet the poor troll.
