Month: July 2003
I’m not feeling so hot this morning. I didn’t sleep very well and I’m starving. I’ve a load of work piled up and I’m worried about some stuff and a little depressed. So I’m sitting there working away with my headphones on. I’m listening to JJ72’s second album I to Sky, second track Formulae for no apperent reason other than it being good music made me stop and smile. I for one think that’s pretty damn cool.
Fucking dano heap of shit. If you offer to save my fucking post then save it you cu*t.
Fuck that’s twice on the same damn post.
Tomorrow is Friday and I am both happy and sad about that. I have nothing planned for the weekend, I quite fancy seeing a movie but will have to see how it goes.
Reading and listening to music will be high on the agenda. Music has been important to me over the past few days more than ever. It’s been calling a lot more. This in itself is by no means a bad thing.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but Local Boy in the Photograph by the Stereophonics gets to me on a pretty regular basis. Although a search of my archives doesn’t seem to have any comment. So no better time.
It came out as a single in 1998 and it was the first I had heard of the band. I caught it on MTV and liked it, it had a good tune. Shortly afterwards I was reading an article about the band and it changed everything. The song was written after the lead singer saw a picture of a guy he knew on the front page of a local paper. He had been run over by a train. The lyrics get me everytime. First time I heard it after reading the article it had me close to tears. It’s a beautiful song.
There’s no mistake, I smell that smell
It’s that time of year again, I can taste the air
The clocks go back, railway track
Something blocks the line again
And the train runs late for the first time
A pebble beach, we’re underneath, a pier that’s just been painted red
Where I heard the news for the first time
And all the friends lay down the flowers
Sit on the banks and drink for hours
Talk of the way they saw him last
Local boy in the photograph
Today
He’ll always be 23, yet the train runs on and on
Past the place they found his clothing
There’s no mistake, I smell that smell
It’s that time of year again, I can taste the air
The clocks go back, railway track
Something blocks the line again
And the train runs late for the first time
Today
And all the friends lay down the flowers
Sit on the banks and drink for hours
Talk of the way they saw him last
Local boy in the photograph
Today
He’s gone away
Right, what have the following got in common?
- The Resistence
- Stormwatch: Team Achillies
- Hellblazer
- WildCats 3.0
- CSI
- Point Blank
- 21 Down
- Sleeper
Fairly simple, they are all comics which I’ve spent a while tonight sorting into order so I can read them from the start (for Hellblazer, I’m going with Mike Carey’s start). I’ve reread Barry Ween in the past few days and just read Strangehaven as far as issue 15. Wonderful series both, very different, but very wonderful. Looking forward to getting into the above.
Ebay Memo
Ouchie, doesn’t sound like a nice place to work at all.
Just got an email from a friend. She has a new tag line, it’s interesting.
What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?
For some reason I found myself listening to some Marvin Gaye this morning. It didn’t last very long, moved on to some Stereophonics.
I’ve forgotten my passcode for my voicemail…again. I really don’t want to ring and ask IC about it but I guess I shall have to fairly soon. Work’s interesting. Next week looks like I’ll be at a 3 day summit which is unfortunatly just up the road but is for a pretty cool project which I’m looking forward to getting in to. I have a lot of reading to do beforehand so I printed out lots this morning. Some of the rest of the stuff going on continues to be a joke but I guess that’s just something to get use to.
I love me some Google. It really is an awesome little tool.
The Shield last night was excellent as ever. I’m really enjoying this series. It’s going to be the only highlight of the viewing week when West Wingends next week.
Played a little pool last night before going home. Been meaning to watch Ultraviolet which I borrowed from a friend at least a year ago so I kicked that off while lurking and fighting with my computer.
I am moments away from smashing the heap of shit that is my laptop off a wall.
New machine is really smooth, I’m enjoying using it. The screen is everything promised and then some. Pretty much got everything organised and it’s all good.
Shame everything else isn’t that simple.
I woke up at 6am this morning which I didn’t like. Dozed for the next couple of hours but didn’t really get back to sleep.
Who’s gonna drown in your blue sea?
I don’t even know what to say. I’d say I feel lost but it never works anytime I start saying I feel something so I’m not even gonna bother. I don’t think I can explain it and I certainly don’t want to try so I’m gonna just lurk for a while. Every few minutes I’m clicking to my system tray looking for Trillian. It’s rare that I’m online and not running AIM of some sort and it’s making me laugh every time it’s not there.
West Wing is on soon and then sleep. The new boss starts tomorrow morning and that should be interesting.
The new machine is fast, real fast and I like it a lot. Hopefully get it all set up tomorrow and get cracking.
