My new flatmate is cool. We head to the pub for a few and then get back to the flat to discuss comics while surfing the internet for an hour.

So far all here is good.

So it’s Saturday afternoon and I’ve spent a couple of hours already unpacking. I got some shelves into place and then took out all of my graphic novels and stacked them up nicely. It all looks good.

Didn’t sleep well last night, not sure if it’s just me or if it’s just me added with being a new place and trying to settle down.

Hold that thought, I need a jumper it’s cold.

I brought my Xbox home yesterday so I want to get that setup and have a go at it over the weekend aswell. That’s really about the plan, there will be some unpacking, some internet and some game playing. Maybe a few phonecalls aswell. I may just have found the details for a lot of old Dublin friends while packing up and I’d like to start trying to get in touch with some of them.

I’m still tired and not really in the mood to write stuff. I went for more last night than I had planned and it wasn’t really as structured as I wanted to go with it but *shrug* I would rarely accuse this place of being structured.

I have a nice graphic novel collection 🙂

It’s been a long week and I’ll recap over some of it quickly.
– Monday got up at 9am to continue packing and getting ready to move. I got to bed at 4:15am on Tuesday morning having been moving for the past however long. It took two trips with a full van to move my stuff. Never again. I shall pay someone to do it for me next time. Even with two friends helping it was terrible. I wanted to just roll up in a corner and cry by about midnight.

– Tuesday, went back to my now old flat to collect some more stuff and do the cleaning. Then I went to see the Flaming Lips. It was awesome and I was grinning like a loon for most of it.

– Wednesday was back to work followed by The Matrix: Revolutions. It’s a flawed movie. It delivers on some of the action but it doesn’t follow on any of the philosophy set up in particular at the end of the second movie. Meh

– Thursday was work followed by a lot of booze in one of the local pubs. It was quite a messy night.

– Friday was a hell of a day at work where I discovered that we have spent the past few weeks working on a problem we had already solved. It kinda turned the afternoon around. A couple of drinks after work and then home to take it easy and get to sleep early.

I was going to type about stuff but my modem cable is too short for me to sit down anywhere comfortably and I just don’t fee like it. I’m going to go and read and then sleep.

But quickly
– My new flat has character.
– I had some really fucked up dreams last night
– One of the UK papers which does an Irish edition got some complaints and removed the Remembrance poppy from it’s front page. D’uh!.
– Some interesting takes going on about racism and in particular the use of the term “boy”.
– Some less interesting and more offensive talks going on about homophobia and discrimination.
– I miss my broadband.
– I’m going to be unpacking for years to come.
– Never again will I buy a mobile which does not have the name Nokia on it.
– There is a total lunar eclipse tonight just after 1am. I won’t be awake for it.
– Music has been so important this week, the Lips’ Waitin’ for Superman in particular.

The Guardian reviews The Flaming Lips here.
I did spend much of the gig grining wildly. The music just brings it out.

Oh and a thought I’ve been meaning to blog for days, one of the worst things about moving was finding photos of happier times with an ex girlfriend.

Also:
I saw The Flaming Lips in Hammersmith Apollo last night and they fucking rocked.

That is all.

Recieved in an email from my mother on Saturday:
“Well, they DO say that moving house is the next most stressful life event after bereavement and divorce…! ”

And how true it is. I’ve had bad breakups eaiser than that move.

I’ve just been to see Alien: The Directors Cut…they don’t make movies like that anymore.

So yesterday I didn’t go to the comics festival at all, I instead met the lads from the V in the nearby pub and drank all day and all night.

Today I’m packing and it looks like it will never end. I’ve cleared at least 10 boxes of stuff out and barely made a dent. That’s not true at all, I’ve made quite a dent it just seems like there is so much more to do. Luckily enough I have the time to do it in and I have a set of keys to move in with tomorrow. So it’s all good*

*ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha 🙁
