I got my hair cut at lunch time today. It’s about half as long as it was, but it’s still longer than I think I wanted it to be. Much more manageable now tho which is good and that’s more than enough of that.

Things are slowly winding down in work and far more importantly, winding up in Eve. I had a really great moment in there the other night. I was messing around with my ship setup and decided to see what speed I could get up to. So I was messing around with two microwarp drives installed. After a while I went off to do a mission and left em on. I hit a gate in a low end sector and as soon as I get into space I’m targeted. Gate camping. Normal warp kicked in and I got out of there nicely So on the way back I dropped out of warp as normal, hit both my MWD’s and was jumping about 3 seconds later. It was real nice.

– I may not have mentioned it, but I am going to Dublin for a long weekend at the end of March. Using up the last of my last years holidays and I got some cheap flights. Kinda looking forward to it.

– Big V drink up on this weekend…and the weekend after. Going to be a heavy one I guess, starts at 2pm and continues all damn day. The good news is that it’s in my local pub and is less than 5 minutes (all down hill) to get home. Have invited a number of the lads from work along aswell too. Should be fun.

– I’m reading another John Connolly, The White Road and enjoying it a lot. Nothing major in the listening stuff these days. I have almost finished organising my cds, I moved them all out to the main room so they are next to the computer which is the only place I really listen to ’em.

– And just today I appear to have managed to trade my Damien Rice ticket for the 21st for one for the 20th which is awesome and it means it no longer clashes with the V DU that Saturday and I still get to go to the gig. This is a really good thing.

– Somewhat typically I have not got something to listen to which is just working so damn well right now. Classic live R.E.M. Great stuff all round. A live album from them would be awesome.

– It amuses me that each morning I enter passwords 14 times just to get going, and no they are not all the same password.

should the angels call, well it’s only then, i’ll pull in the reins.

I’ve been bad at this lately. Going to start off with a list and see how things can be built on.
– Smallville is really bringing out the inner geek, the moment where Chloe takes a new pen name to write for the Daily Planet and she picks LOIS LANE. There was quite a geeky reaction from me. And then in the latest episode we actually see the cape! In a vision of Clark’s death, we see him flying on at the end of the universe. However as someone commented on SK8J, it would have been so geekily cool to see a grey fist descending. And lastly, while I think they were perhaps toying with Adam Knight being Bruce Wayne, they do seem to have shied away which I think is a good thing but we shall see.

– Yesterday afternoon a few of us headed to the Natural History Museum to see the BBC Wildlife Photography exhibition, however as soon as we got there we found out it was full for the afternoon. So we just wantered around the Earth Galleries for a while and then went into town. Hit the Maple Leaf for a couple of pints of Molson and then onto the Mongolian Barbecue for a truly awesome dinner before finishing with a single drink in the Porterhouse. It was all good.

– Eve is awesome. There are now player owned stations and a whole new series of jump gates are in place. Skill training is going so well

– Goddamn after a SK8J lurking, I really really want to see Due South again. It was a great great show and went long before it’s time. I have some videos I picked up on the big time cheap a while ago, but I have no player for them. I can’t afford the DVD’s at the moment but something to put high on the list for the future. I had to go and download a copy of Ride Forever just to get through the afternoon. It’s such a great tune.

– I’m in the midst of writing up some thoughts for a Post Implementation Review (PIR) or as they are more commonly known a post-mortem. I’m struggling with it a lot, or at least I thought I was. I often find it very hard to criteque and I was worried I wasn’t writing out a document to as high a standard as felt was requried and as I really wanted to be honest. So I printed a couple of rough drafts and went over it with my boss this afternoon and it all seems to be fine. The couple of things he suggested needed changing I was already planning on, but just had not had enough time yet.

– Really pleased I managed to get all those Pixies tickets. I got 4 tickets for each night and I’m already short. Might have a spare coming through in work, hope so as it would really help out a couple of friends. Shall see how it ends up going.

Pixies tickets on sale tomorrow morning at 9am.
Dave sets personal record by being out of bed well before 9am on a Saturday morning.

shortlist

– In the two minutes it took me to walk back from the coffee shop to the office, I spilt my coffee twice.
– Been watching some Carnivale over the past few days. There is a superb cast there and a hell of a lot of potential but it seems to be going whereever it is going very very slowly.
– Hebe and I went for a walk on Primrose Hill last night. A week ago we had temperatures below 0 and snow, this week we are in the late teens and while it’s not quite t-shirt weather it’s getting close.
– Eve continues to go well, not as well as I would like but well.
– Work is going semi well in some areas.
– Americans really do live in their own little world. Grow the fuck up, morons!

Slanderer of Newts.

And now the mood strikes. Well, that’s not strictly true, it struck last night around 1.30 in the am. I was half tempted to get up and go typing but as my sister is staying over and sleeping on the couch in the living room, I didn’t want to wake her.

Anyway to go back a few days for a catch-up. Friday was bad. I woke up and felt like shit (no, I was not out on Thursday) and so I didn’t go into work. I took it easy at home and felt much better by later in the evening. Didn’t really get up to much just some Eve and some watching of stuff.

Saturday was very quiet. Slept in late and played lots of Eve. Then that night Alex and I took Hebe to the pub and had a few pints. Mairéad was due to arrive around 9ish and was going to come along to the pub. Due to fun at Heathrow she was late and didn’t get here till around 11.30 by which stage we were well home.

And in what is, I’m sure, a completely unfounded slander on newts, having 3 pints and the social skills of a newt is not a good thing. Hebe was making lots of friends in the pub including a table of nice Irish girls in the corner…it was loud in the pub and I have bad hearing and I could not make out for sure what they were saying but I think one was telling me she was new to London and wasn’t settling very well and missed lots of things and well I wasn’t very helpful. Damn 🙁

So onto Sunday. We wandered down to Camden Market (with a quick comic shop trip) and then out to the big shopping centre at Brent Cross. Picked up a few cds, (Springsteen – The River, Hole – Live Through This and Tears for Fears – The Collection…eclectic or what?) and then headed home while Mairéad went off to meet some friends.

A good night in Eve was had and I have a plan to hopefully make some money over the next couple of days and with some look will rope Dave into helping and indeed helping with the bankrolling 😉

I finally watched through the Sci-Fi Channels remake of Battlestar: Galactica and it’s not as bad as I originally thought at all. Nice twist at the end and a decent enough cast. Certainly would be watching the series as it came along. I’m also up-to-date with Alias now, not all that impressed with the third season and it certainly ranks nowhere near the first and the first half of the second but it’s still enjoyable stuff.

This window has been sitting in front of me for the past hour. I have an urge to blog but I don’t really feel like typing. Later hopefully.
