So tonight was excellent, some of the usual V dsyfunction but overall excellent. A good weekend all in all to date!
Month: March 2004
So yesterday overall was good. There were some bad moments in the morning/afternoon. The first day I actually had off in a long time with nothing to do and nothing to worry about, I didn’t need work pinging me about something which doesn’t even qualify as a minor issue. It was a pisser.
So I headed down Camden to do some stuff. Picked up a small bit of music, Jeff Buckley’s Grace, The Who’s Ultimate Collection, Ramones by The Ramones and then moved onto a few books. Hornblower as mentioned is still going great and looking forward to some of the other stuff but more on them as I get to them.
On the way back home I went into Starbucks for a Caramel Macchiato and apple cinnamon muffin (which was really really good) and read for a while. It was fairly empty and I considered life the universe and everything for a short time too.
The afternoon was pretty much just Eve and some reading and then onto V Club which as already mentioned was really good fun. The last clubbing was Friday 16th November 2002 fact fans! And yes there was Abba last night too. I suspect on the basis of this I shall be attending B-Movie next week and will be heading back to the Underworld at some stage.
Today is another all day V-DU in the Ben Crouch. It kicked off about 2 hours ago, I’m going to head in there shortly. Looking forward to it, lots of people out and the promise of ROCK at the end of the night is always a good thing.
However I cannot hear. My ears are still ringing badly from last night and show no sign of clearing up. Having a shower today was so nice. It was badly needed too but it’s always nice to go from an after being out state to a nice and clean showered state. See there, that’s what we call drift.
I think, I think I like this:
The last time I went clubbing, I was in Tokyo and I was debating about sleeping with my sisters best friend. Billie Jean was a major event that night too
Tonight was excellent. Billie Jean into Jump Around into Smells like Teen Spirit was just genius and ending the ROCK with The Pixies’ Debaser was so perfect it was unbelieveable. An excellent night and one which calls to be repeated.
Note for future reference, do NOT repeat NOT wait until walking home with flatmate to mention the really cute redhead dancing next to us all night…flatmate then asks “oh the cute one who was smiling at us all night?”…and of course I had seen this but dismissed it as an overactive imagination. Damn me! She was really cute. God I’m such an idiot.
Back in the reading groove, 215 pages and counting since 2pm today. Got a Hornblower 3 in 1 and have already read the first one and enjoyed the hell out of it. Will take it to bed shortly and kick off the next one.
This is great: Fuck You
Right.
Tonight an application form!
One way or the other!
Today’s music has been all over the place. Kicked off with The Beatles, moved onto some Zwan and now I’ve stopped off on some Michael Jackson. Not sure I’ll last all that much longer on it, I want something a little heavier and more indie. The Strokes kinda hit the spot yesterday, will see what I end up with in a while.
Not done one of these in a while so…
– Big changes a foot in Eve, today is patch day and I fully intend to get back to some agent work after it. I had lots of fun last night when I went to actaully go work on some scanning skills and found a nice NPC spawn which gave me a small bit of trouble but I was able to farm for a while. Must check out more places like that.
– When I start typing in news, autocomplete brings news.bbc.co.uk straight up. ‘Tis rather handy these days.
– For some reason my neighbours decided to start some DIY well before 7.30 this morning and loudly at that. Congrats, over 95% of voters at the V consider you cunts, and they have not even met you!
– I was working in the CD lab for a while yesterday. I don’t know what I did it to it in the first place but it hates me. The machine has a complete and utter loathing for me. I took me over and hour just to get it to work and then of course the cds were fucked up. So very typical.
– Water on Mars!
– Word of the day, nay word of the week: apathetic. So very very bored of everything right now!
– Having an interesting money month already. Yesterday evening, I was owed well over £300 by friends for various things and I’m waiting on those dollar cheques to clear so my bank account gets a little healthier. Everything is now paid and I just have to survive the month, which to be honest won’t be a problem. There isn’t much on this month and I’m not expecting any major expenditures bar the two V DU which I hope to keep on the light side.
– Off to Dublin at the end of the month of course, looking forward to that a lot. It will be so nice to great out of this damn country and to have some time off work. There is a work conference just a few days later, I really wish they would sort things out instead of just sitting on them.
– I’m just going to leave it at half a sentence cause I don’t want to go into the rest, but last night was a joke.
– I really have to do the washing up when I get home tonight,it’s been stacked up for a while.
– I also really need to get back into the habit of keeping dinners in the fridge and eating them. The last two went so far out of date that I threw them out and that was a month ago. I don’t know what I’ve done since then. The vending machine also needs to stop being an options.
– I lost at chess twice on Monday, it was not good :- Team meeting time.
I am at times very fussy over what application I’ll even type in. Mainly when I’m blogging. I prefer to type straight into Blogger.com or into AOL’s text document. Anything else doesn’t really feel right or look so good on the screen. I’m writing this now in Ultra Edit, my text eiditor of choice overall but it never feels right for just typing stuff, more for doing things in.
I guess it’s safe to say I’m not in a good mood this morning. I slept a little late again, I really do need to buy an alarm clock…and go to bed a little earlier every day would not hurt really.
Having some sort of breakfast in the morning is a good thing. It keeps me away from the unhealthy vending machine in the kitchen. I never have time for breakfast before I leave home, and I don’t like spending £2 a day on it from the shop across the road, it all adds up and well I’m getting cheap in my old age.
I have to go up to the bank in Hammersmith at lunchtime. I was about to complain there will be a long queue, but then I realised that there won’t be, I have to go to the Foreign Currency till which should be quiet enough. Yay, a small ray of sunshine. Will grab food somewhere up there too.
I’ve been bad at my reading of late. I’m still reading The White Road by John Connolly and while I was enjoying it, I’ve not gone back to it in two weeks or so and I’ve not looked for another book to replace it. I’ve read some comics but nothing really enough to fill the gap. Metro usually gets me all the way on the tube these days (god I hate the tube) and I’m often travelling home with people and so not reading. I may well have a look in the bookshop anyway and see if anything catches my fancy.
So um I didn’t manage to look it up last night. I shall do so tonight. In honour of it being February 29th, I was going to look up my diary for 1996 where I hope to have note something I did that day. Still I posted, so I can edit that post and add it in 🙂
I slept in late today, not as badly as I thought when I leaped out of bed thinking it was WAY late (I slept till after 2 the past two days) but I was only 30 min late for work. Of course the ticket machine was broken so I could not get my monthly ticket this morning, shouldn’t have left it till today tho. Um that’s really that. I’m not very happy, I’m quite cold right now and it’s not even 12.30 yet.
It’s hardly even worth commenting on the Oscars is it? Talk about a knee-jerk realisation we didn’t give LOTR anything yet. Yes, Sean Penn and Tim Robbins did well for Mystic River but I wanted Bill Murrey to win damnit!
I watched Red vs. Blue yesterday, it was quite funny, I’ll be downloading the next few episodes later on I think.
BB is back to normal, it was of course something simple like digging into the wrong pipe. Not so impressed with the reaction time but *shrug* not much I can do. Will be all setup again as soon as I can get home.
Getting less impressed with Eve at the moment for reasons I won’t go into here. ‘Tis safe to say I’ll still be playing for a long while but the method may change a little.
Right now I’m enjoying the hell out of British Sea Power’s Remember Me, the vocals are vaguely Bowie like but the sound is not.
And no, I don’t know where Friday night came from. Those of us who were sober and capable of walking to the bus stop (same thing really) somehow ended up quite depressed and that became that…so there.
A quick tv roundup. Smallville really needs to get back into the groove and out of the monster of the week but with a slight backstory rut it’s stuck in now. It was allright and Lex is still great, but not as great as he should be! 24 was allright, nothing special. I think they know the season isn’t really going anywhere and are desperately changing plots as they go along and well it shows. Angel, it had some great moments but did we have to have another demon gestating inside one of the women and then taking over? Lorne’s punch and Wes’ shot were excellent, the really good moments I’ve come to expect but overall…kinda meh. Oh yes last night I watched the pilot of…and I have never seen any of this before…Twin Peaks and it was excellent. Good enough for me to run out and buy the box set…but I’m a little short on cash this month so I’m going to.
I have to post a comic roundup on the V later, I shall more than likely stick it up here too…await with bated breath.
