*sigh* I lost a post as my client crashed. I’m running way too much stuff.

I checked my first ever email address for the first time in about a year today. There was over 12500 messages in there. Of the 7k I have seen so far, ALL were spam. Gotta love the internet.

While searching for an old friends email address in my inbox, I came across an email I sent a few months ago and that led me onto the blog posting all about it. Still the entry I’m most proud of (boy did I let alot out that night) and the reason I’ll always point to for me having this blog. Anyway I’m glad to be sitting here 6 months later, back in touch with number of the people I lamented not being in touch with in that email.

Slept pretty well last night and actually felt good on the way to work. This is an unusual thing. The new washing machine arrived and it was really nice to get stuff through. I was pretty much out of clothes as of today so it was good timing. Alex and I shall be fighting over it for a few days I suspect.

Goatboy has landed and arrived safely and all is good there. I could well make the whole night out tomorrow, messy as it may be.

I often wish I was a more creative person. Of course I’d love to write comics or better still a novel, but fortunately for you lot I do know my limitations and have no intention of doing so. But it does annoy me when some people are who genuinely creative just throw it away. It’s one of those things that too few people have and it should always keep going.

Man did I have some really strange dreams last night. There was a Russian girl in my college class who was really cute. I have not seen her in 5 years or so yet last night, there she was serving beer behind a bar. Very strange. She was really cute too.

I blame the drugs, of course I blame the drugs.

I watched the pilot for Millennium the other day. It’s been along time since I’ve seen it and it’s still really good stuff. Today came confirmation of the first season box set out in DVD in a couple of months, I really really want this. It was such a great show with such wonderful imagery and such great music.

Just found a Sessions at AOL feature with four tracks from Damien Rice, so that’s going to do me nicely for the next 20 minutes or so.

Outkast’s Hey Ya is a surprisingly good song and the video isn’t half bad either.

Today was also a bad day. In fact by 3.30 today I had to go home to bed. I feel asleep on the bus on the way several times. I feel a little better after 3 hours sleep but still have quite a headache. Had some food and I’m going to go to bed around 10ish and hopefully sleep through.

Our new washing machine has arrived and been plumbed in so I have my first load of clothes in it in about 3 weeks. This is a very good thing.

I love Google’s definition feature. It’s a nice and simple way to check a dictionary quickly. The “did you mean” option also means that when I misspell the word, it usually knows what I am talking about.

Just had some news confirmed and it’s working out nicely. I’m attending at conference in Dublin for 3 days in the middle of May, a Tuesday – Thursday kinda thing. It’s just been confirmed and the good part of it is, I can take the Monday off and fly back the previous Friday. So I get a weekend at home for nothing 🙂

I’m looking forward to it a hell of a lot now. My next two months are really really full. I have this trip to Dublin, followed by the Bristol Comic Con, followed days later by two Pixies gigs and then off to Download. It’s gonna be a good if expensive month.

Have a guest staying over at our flat for the next week or so arriving today. The goatboy is back in the country and is walking the dog for rent. This is a good thing. It should mean a large crowd out on Friday night and then perhaps onto B-Movie, I’ll see how that one goes closer to the time.

I am enjoying the hell out of Revelation Space. I loved it the first time around, this time it’s even better.

Today was a bad day. About 11am my head started to hurt and badly. It remained that way for the next 7 hours or so and some drugs had no effect. Not a very productive day. I considered going home around 3 ish but never really got around to it.

So got home, watched Alias which was ok and then The Sopranos and then really didn’t do much else. I played some Eve of course and well that’s really that.

Word of the day, and it’s been a long time since we had one of them around here is: melancholy.

Internet! Stop being slow damn you!!!

Right well then, the weekend.

Friday afternoon and Saturday night was spent at the ICA (Institute for Cultural Affairs) helping some of Alex’s friends out with a radio broadcast. To borrow Tim’s term, it was artwank but some of it was interesting and it wasn’t really all that long.

The rest of the weekend was where the fun really was. As mentioned Shaun of The Dead with the V on Friday night and a drink and a chat afterwards. The movie was excellent and I do recommend you go see it.

Sunday was Poker at our place. We started playing about 5pm and were still going at 5am the next morning. Game was Texas Hold ‘Em and it was good fun. I ended down a tenner but it was really good fun. We drank lots, played lots and ate lots of junk food.

Didn’t get very much sleep and ended up exhausted all day yesterday. Which was fine as I had nothing to do but go and see a Kill Bill double bill last night. Alex won a couple of tickets and so we got to see Volume 2 before it opens anywhere in the world. This is a good thing. Overall, not bad at all. I enjoyed the first one a hell of a lot more the second time around and the second one is great. David Carradine completely steals the movie. Quite happy that after the whole splitting it into two movies etc that I only paid to see it one 🙂

Other stuff I watched over the weekend summed up. The Shield. Fucking A! Well that was unexpected, roll on next week. 28 Days Later, finally seen this and I’m left wondering what the fuss was all about. The Butterfly Effect…hmm pretty much crap with the odd good idea never followed through on.

I have a really bad headache, I may well go home early.

I woke up in a pretty bad state this morning. The entire back of my throat was swollen. I could not speak properly for a good couple of hours. I suspect the smoking on Wednesday night of catching up with me. I went to bed about 10pm last night, I was just shattered and out of it and I needed to sleep. So I did for a good 10 hours and I felt a lot worse. I feel alot better now. My throat is still raw and it hurts and I hope it shall be better tomorrow.

Anyway Shaun of the Dead was excellent and I highly recommend that you go and see it as soon as you can.

I’ll go into the INS radio thing more tomorrow I think. I need to be there tomorrow night before commenting on it. For now I really need to get some sleep and hopefully be back to my normal chirpy self in the morrow.

It would however be really nice if the new fucking washing machine would get there. I am very close to being out of clothes!

Last night was the launch party. An advertising campaign costing about 20 million pounds kicks off anytime now, the software is officially launched and my god did we party. The beer was flowing and free and good and cold. We drank solidly from 6pm when we got there till 11pm when the bar closed. There was smoking of cigars, live muisc, impersonators, card games and much much more. There were collegues over from Dublin, up from Bristol and flown in from Waterford. There was about 400 people there and it was one of the best parties the company has thrown in a long long time.

It was very social which I think is the key. There was entertainment but there was also space and time to stand around and chat. Having the teams we work with there from their repsective bases was really cool, finally getting to meet some of the key people, the ones we talk to on the phone at least twice a day. It was all good.

So I got home last night and I found some neurofen beside my bed. Popped a couple of them before I went to sleep and then another couple as soon as I woke up this morning. Into a long hot shower and into work late and I don’t feel half as bad as I should have. It’s a quiet day here, as expected. No-one is really doing anything. I have a meeting later this afternoon for an hour or so and that’s really all I have to do today.

I have some Metallica going on right now and it’s good. It’s hitting the spot perfectly. Tomorrow afternoon I’m working at the ICA helping out some friends of Alex’s with a radio project of some sort and then I’m off to see Shaun of the Dead with the V in the evening. It should be good fun. There may be V clubbing afterwards but I’ll have to see how I feel when the time comes around. I am very glad that I don’t have to get up for work tomorrow, I can stay in bed till whenever.

Oh yes, in case I had not mentioned it, 4 day weekend!!! No work for 4 days. I have stuff on for most of tomorrow, for Saturday night and for Sunday from mid afternoon. Monday I have nothing and I’m looking forward to it.

Today is dragging by really slowly, it’s unreal. Post lunch tiredness has set in and the rest of the day is going to drag on and on and on. It’s a bit shit really. I may head along to the Fitz tonight, I had intended to but I’m not sure I will be up for it. Going home to play Eve for a while seems much more appealing.

I am in the process of re-reading the excellent Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds. I want to actually stick with it and pay attention to it this time. I didn’t read it as throughly as I could have the first time around and I want to work through them up to the new one that I got a couple of months ago. So far so good, I hope to get some more read over the coming few days.
