The Big Fella

I’m reading a biography of Michael Collins by Tim Pat Coogan at the moment (Amazon) and its a fascinating piece of work. It is generally considered the definitive biography of Collins and one of many in a series on modern Irish history by Coogan. I started in on Saturday I believe and unusually for me I’ve not made much headway into it. I’ve read about 170 pages so far and given today is Thursday and I’ve been reading more because I’m enjoying it and I’ve been taking the bus to work so even more reading time its kinda strange. I guess its just a case of having to pay more attention to it and of course its a harder read. By that I mean it is not fiction and as such it doesn’t flow quite so freely, its following events and the results of those events.

In other news, last night I went home and took it easy, played some Bond. I beat it a couple of nights ago but I’m going back for all the hidden extras and medals and shit. I watched the last 30 min of ER aswell. C4’s ads during the week had worked. I use to watch it when it first started off years ago and was solid drama but just never really felt like keeping up with it after the second season of so. It was ok, nothing great considering what was happening. I would have thought there would be a lot more reaction and ya know spend more than a minute at the funeral. Went to bed shortly after that ended and slept a lot better last night. 🙂
