The district sleeps alone tonight

I went to All Points East on Sunday. It was a double headliner for the 20th anniversary of both Death Cab for Cutie’s Transatlanticism and The Postal Service’s single album, the seminal Give Up

I’m not a particular fan of DCFC but I *adore* Give Up and had really gone just to see The Postal Service. As it turns out DCFC were pretty good live and the crowd were very into it.

The Postal Service though were just on a whole other level. From the second the intro to The District Sleeps Tonight kicked off, the place just lifted. An already happy crowd turned into an ecstatic giant indie electronic dance party.

Gibbard is an excellent front man. He, Lewis and the band looked just as happy as the crowd – no forced banter, no mugging around, just everyone loving it. Honestly it felt like an all out victory lap.

It was an evening of sheer joy and it is still making me smile a couple of days later.

Two Eleven

 Broken habits.

Not a good run. I don’t quite know how to make this all work. How things have changed. I’m really really keen on it, at least I feel like I want to but then… ah procrastination and motivation, how they mock me.

Two Four

Good Res Assoc admin meeting. Some work to do now this week.

Another quiet one, with some movies watched. Then started a rewatch of Discovery, mainly inspried by by Eaglemoss collection. Nearly complete…

I need a good week now.

Two Three

A lovely quiet day. Some movies and some laying around and just … downtime.

It was good tho the pizza turned out not to be the best idea. Not like me to have not the best ideas eh.

February so now it gets busy, feeling a little more connected which would be good. We shall see….

Two Two

Really disappointed by the Cruel Intentions musical. It felt hollow and cold – but not in the way that they meant.  Quite some whiplash from Othello. Some bangers in the soundtrack (bangers heh) and some smart thought occasionally gone into the music but overall. A shame.

Two One

I guess the titles are sticking.

Othello at the Globe was interesting. Can’t believe how restricted seats they gave us, really detracted from the show. Otherwise, good tho I don’t like all the choices they made.

One beer, so that was good!!!

One Thirty One

Crazy money spent, crazy holiday/honeymoon booked.

Canada, New Zealand and Fiji. Going to be good… I hope. It would want to be at that price.

Money woes, thankfully a gift from the future in-laws but that doesn’t alleviate my stress as much as I would like….

One Thirty

Train strike made getting to the theatre an expensive pain but Rewind at New Diorama was really good. Glad we made the effort. A very very strong four stars I reckon.

Otherwise. Things go on. I found a mistake where 0 does not equal 0 and it has pissed me off so much….

One Twenty Eight

Quiet Sunday aside from Residents Association which seems to have gone well, gone out to vote and hopefully all will be good.

Otherwise, not a day to plan but I watched some movies and so that was good.

Dave’s review published on Letterboxd:

Cailee Spaeny is pretty great, hard to really get past
the toxic origins and the absolute power imbalance from start to finish.
Priscilla as a prisoner with no autonomy at all, it doesn’t make for a
very enjoyable movie – is it meant to be though?

Dave’s review published on Letterboxd:

Not so much a mystery or a trial but a microscope on a
relationship with all of it’s warts, nothing gets to stay hidden or in
those moments in an argument, meaning nothing more than that moment.

Not what I expected.
