motherfuckers

I already bought the fucking 5 disc special edition you bastards. Now a mere year later fucking NINE fucking disc special edition.

Fucking bastards.

Tonight was pool down the proper pool hall and was lots of fun. Tomorrow is the same but with many more people coming along.

Loads of other stuff going on, the question of the day is when is it ok (and indeed required) for you to pressure your friends into telling you what is going on?

Just talking to someone about DC. I want to go back. Aside from wanting to see friends I want to wander around the Mall armed with my camera. I’d need more memory for it I’m sure. Ah well who knows. Flights are cheap to here and I do have a place to stay. Sometime.

Oh and I really need to get around to finishing reading His Dark Materials. Read and enjoyed the first book, bought the next two…left on shelf. Maybe take some time off.

Online Chess rocks.

I really should go to bed. I have new Buffy and new Angel calling to me. The cds are sitting beside me and I want to watch them. I need to get more cds, I’ve only a few left. And damn it, I missed CSI and Boomtown tonight as I was out playing pool later than I had planned.

Follow the day and reach for the sun. The Spree are so much not rock n’ roll that they are nothing but rock n’ roll.

The State of the Union: Drinking Game – awesome. Will there be a war when I wake up in the morning?

Screwing up.

We all screwup. It happens. I know I do. I do a lot in fact.

What I do not do however is only think to ask if my passport and papers allow me to enter a country when I reach the boarding gate. Ladies and Gentlemen; my sister who shall not be spending the next week in Korea.

On another note, 25 people jumping around in white robes still rocks.

The video for The Polyphonic Spree’s Hanging Around is streamable here and is at the same time so very rock n’ roll and completly not rock n’ roll.

25 people in long white robes jumping around never looked this good.

I’m watching Boogie Nights. I had no idea P.T. Anderson reused so many of his cast members for later movies. He really has a good eye for talent (haw haw).

I’m sitting at my desk close to drooling. Ok so the Hulk might not look too great in the TRAILER but the movie sure does and then to follow that with the TRAILER for the next two Matrix movies….

She’s so far away

This might sound strange and yes I know I’m a geek, thanks. I’ve just been putting the trades I finished reading on my shelf. Mostly parts of a series so they go with the prior books. Every now and again when I do stuff like this, just looking at the sheer amount of quality works I have on my shelf makes me happy. I don’t know how to explain it, its a good feeling and it makes me smile. I’m not even sure why I feel it. Whether it is pride that I own these books, happiness at having them to read or simply that they exist, I don’t know. Maybe all of the above. Perhaps it is a little acknowledgement that I like my own taste, a tip of the hat so to speak.

I’ve been thinking about something for a couple of days and trying to think of a way to explain it. I have as of yet not been able to think of one so I’m just going to tell you a simple story.

Once upon a time three guys go out to lunch together. The food is good and company better, so they have a nice lunch and they talk and laugh throughout. They finish their lunch and head back to the office. On route to the office they pass by a couple of colleagues presumably on their way out for lunch. However in this case, to simply say colleagues is leaving a lot out. One guy turns to the other and says ‘I know exactly what your thinking’.

That’s it, story over. It amused me and it continues to amuse me. I don’t know why, it just does. I really enjoyed lunch that day.

There are times retail therapy is just that. Headed into town for a couple of hours and picked up the second Exiles trade which I really enjoyed and the second trade for the Hulk by Bruce Jones which was also enjoyable. Wandered around window shopping a little then grabbed some dinner and home to read.

Got an 8 pack of batteries too, so all ready to go with the camera and my discman. Picked up The Beginning Stages of… by The Polyphonic Spree. A lot of buzz going around about them so I figured the bandwagon was at least worth checking out. First listen was ok, but I wasn’t paying all that much attention to it. Another shall follow shortly and I’ll give it some more thought.

UPDATE: Section 6&7 Hanging Around the Day is excellent as is Section 8: Soldier Girl. Section 10 being over 35 minutes of a really irritating buzzing noise is shit.

And lastly I have no idea who texted me this but it made me laugh.

Q: When is it ok to kick a dwarf in the bollocks?

A: When he says your wife’s hair smells nice.

Quite an interesting little story on different parts of Sony’s business pulling in different ways. Well worth a read.
Wired 11.02: The Civil War Inside Sony

Also, I’ve been in the Sony Village mentioned in the article and it was fuckin’ ace.

We are getting a new kitchen put in this week. The builder arrives sometime early tomorrow morning. So I spent a couple of hours this morning taking everything out of the kitchen. Should all be finished by Friday I hope and then we shall see how it all goes. I’m looking forward to it, a new cooker (with a timer hopefully) might actually have me cooking at home a little more often and you know that would be a good thing.

I don’t have much planned for today, in fact I’m quite bored. Have some more comics to read of course, but other than that nothing really I’m in anyway enthusiastic for.

Drafts

draft
t noun 1 a preliminary version of a piece of writing: the first draft of the party’s manifesto | [as MODIFIER] a draft document.

The ‘Drafts’ folders in my email programs are the least used folders. I don’t tend to do drafts, I don’t know why. If I’m sending an email I’ll just type it out and send it. For work unless it is an email which I think needs a how should a phrase this; a little political consideration I’ll go over it a few times. Other than that, its pretty much just type and send. If for some reason I can’t finish an email because I have to go away from the keyboard I’ll either leave it open or if it will be a while I’ll bung it into drafts. I don’t do that very often tho.

For the blog, I don’t usually do drafts either. I have very rarely used the draft feature of Blogger. If I’m not finished a posting and its getting long I will use the post without publishing option just to make sure I have the post saved. I do this quite a bit. Also if it isn’t something that I’m ready to put out there I’ll do the same thing and come back to it later.

Perhaps this is something I should change. I wonder if I could communicate better, well no I don’t. I know I could communicate better, I just don’t know how to.

Comic stuff
– 3 issues of Daredevil is a good thing.
– No Chris Cross on Captain Marvel is a bad thing.
– The art for Elektra 19 was shit.
WildCats Version 3.0 is one of the better new series out there.
Global Frequency continues to have really good concepts, but I’m not sure about the execution.
Powers isn’t doing it for me at the moment.
– I am going to miss Spider-Man’s Tangled Web. It is one of Marvel’s best books.
Amazing Spider-Man is actually a really solid book.
MEK finished ok. Some nice art by Steve Rolston.
– Ennis and Dillon on Punisher continues to rock.
