Two pretty cool articles from wired this morning:
A company called ProQuest has digitized every back issue of the Times, from cover to cover. Every news article, editorial, photograph, cartoon and advertisement is included, and using a fully searchable file, readers can see articles as they

Over a stretch of desolate prairie in Saskatchewan, Canada, Fournier will take 2.5 hours to ascend to 40,000 meters (131,200 feet) in a 95-meter-high, helium-filled balloon that has been specially designed for the attempt. Here at the very edge of space, at an altitude four times the height of Mount Everest, he will leap from his craft to begin a six-minute descent that will see him reaching supersonic speeds between 1,200 and 1,600 kilometers per hour (between 745 and 1,000 mph).
The Man Who Will Fall to Earth

I have to laugh this morning. One of the girls from production has moved into the spare desk next to me for a couple of weeks in order to improve her technical skills by working with another team on this floor. I’m laughing on the inside.

So I have bad grammar and bad spelling. This I knew. Normally I spellcheck my posts, I prefer to go ahead and type them out and worry less about spelling than about actually typing them. Afterwards I normally spellcheck them in AOL. It has been suggested I check grammar aswell….that would mean using Word. I will have to think about it.

And at some stage soon I will remember to talk about the signature nazis and be inclined to do so.

Late August is looking far more likely for traveling. This will have to be thought about. Coming back in late October is going to cause some thinking. Still matters are being escalated and a answer will hopefully be on the way quickly.

By the way…

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before and indeed look to your top right. One of the few main purposes of this place is to let me vent 😉

“It is not an overstatement to describe the arrests in Tulia as an atrocity. The entire operation was the work of a single police officer who claimed to have conducted an 18-month undercover operation. The arrests were made solely on the word of this officer, Tom Coleman, a white man with a wretched work history, who routinely referred to black people as “niggers” and who frequently found himself in trouble with the law.”

“Best British Blog award”
I’m not taking part in this, I never even considered it. Even if I ran an in anyway readable decent blog I still wouldn’t even think about. The contraversy going on around it however has been interesting and this to and fro between some interested and involved parties is interesting. Check it out: Guardian Unlimited | Weblog competition a ‘bloody stupid idea’?

Today

It has been around 32 degrees all day, that is 90 for all you Yanks. In itself, that is quite hot but my main problem has been the 40% humidity. Its just horrible.

Anyways today’s new music is two Best Ofs, Bruce Springsteen and Thin Lizzy.

So, I keep getting told to either calm down or be patient. Pat is being an asshole and well my boss is reading this 😉 I really don’t think its unreasonable that a date be firmed up for the move. Afterall the provisional date is now 10 days away. I mean I could be leaving for up to 3 months (I certainly hope its not that long) in 10 days. I’m starting to work on the assumption that will slip but what if it doesn’t?

I really don’t care that its not important to the business when we go. It is damn important to me. I have repeatedly pointed out it is one of my most important questions. This could be solved with a phonecall or at least a better answer forthcoming. The phrase the second or third week of August keeps getting used and in all fairness Dave was taken aback when I reminded him that he was the one who pointed out that to start the second week would mean leaving next week. *sigh* anyway that is enough of that.

A couple of good things sorted out today for the trip. But absolutely no move at all on when we are suppose to go. I know people have been on holidays and that causes problems but for fuck sake they could take into account the fact that we are suppose to be going and indeed have a provisional date of Thursday next fucking week. I suspect that is gone by the wayside, but you know a bit of consideration for us would be nice.

You know this was important enough that I was asked to take some time out of my holiday to join a call about it but now when I ask when I’m going I’m told to “calm down we’ll find out tomorrow or the day after or the day after etc.” Nice eh?

ok ok

So having been thinking about some stuff over the weekend, well not so much thinking about it really just it struck me while I was thinking about ordering some stuff online. The thought occurred there was no real point for the time being as I won’t be around to get them, or I’ll need an address in the US for them to be shipped to. I realised at that stage that I will actually be disappointed more than I had thought if this trip does not take place. I am of two minds about it at the moment, and very different minds too.

I’m not sure this is all going to happen. I know the entire thing is not as well looked upon as I had been led to believe and given the fact there are no details being firmed up and no real sign of details being firmed up (although tomorrow might change that…), so I’m left wondering if this will all go ahead.

On the other hand, somethings are going ahead and some of the minor logistics are being sorted. I’m not sure on them yet. I don’t know if any money has actually been spent on this. Once that actually occurs I’ll be a little more confident it will go ahead.

It is setting in a lot more now and I’m getting kinda excited by the prospect, like I said I’ll be disappointed if it does not happen. I’ll be fairly pissed off too in all honesty. I’ve been doing a fair whack of stuff at home to get set up for this. But yeah I’m excited.
