“I never said I wasn’t an evil fucker” heh we like that 🙂
Friday night was fun. Went to the pub for a couple of drinks with the guys after work and at some stage in the night started talking with the people sitting at the table next to us only to find out they worked in networks for the ISP in the building next door to us. So we ended up chatting with them and staying till we really were thrown out, which is unusual as they like us in that pub. Anyway it was all good and we are going to meet them again for some (more) drinks.
Of course this morning was not good, in fact neither was this afternoon. They were not good at all. Picking up some comics helped, with more details to follow on them tomorrow.
Tomorrow is reading day and catch up on stuff day. Like email and other important online areas.
Gonna read for a bit now and then sleep.
There is no entry for today.
That is all.
“Top Shelf is back in business.
Chris Staros is going to put out an official email at the end of the week.
But as of last night, Chris said they’d made the nut for this month.
They’re still in for a difficult period, but yesterday they were put back
in business.
And it’s the Warren Ellis Forum, BAD SIGNAL and artbomb.net that made the difference.
You people did good.”
From todays BAD SIGNAL by Warren Ellis.
WHOO HOO. Welcome to the fucking internet. Major kudos to Artbomb.net, the Warren Ellis Forum and Warren Ellis himself for saving a company and providing them with $20,000 worth of orders in less than 24 hours. Fuck me that’s impressive.
I was reading Maus: a Survivor’s Tale II: And Here My Troubles Began last night and the only thing I could think of was how? This was not all that long ago, not even 60 years. How could this have happened??? It was just wrong there is no other word for it
Should the consumer try to play Dion’s CD on a PC or Macintosh, the computer likely will crash…Sony denied these allegations. “The CD will probably cause a system to crash, but it will not alter anything,”

Well fuck me. That’s not a good thing at all and surely cannot be good PR for Sony.
Samuel L. Jackson with a lightsabre and Natalie Portman in a Leia type outfit…how can this be bad? (yes yes famous last words)
“You hereby grant (Brilliant) the right to access and use the unused computing power and storage space on your computer/s and/or Internet access or bandwidth for the aggregation of content and use in distributed computing,” the terms of service read. “The user acknowledges and authorizes this use without the right of compensation.” Anybody who declines this provision is not able to install the Kazaa file-swapping software.
This is very bad. If you have Kazaa and have accepted it’s Terms and Conditions you have also given permission for another network to use your computer. Full story was at Wired but I can’t find the archive. It’s not a good thing at all. More here
Top Shelf in Trouble.
Order Strangehaven, it’s a damn fine book. Order From Hell, it’s award-winning Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell.
On the subject of Strangehaven, Artbomb.net‘s review by Warren Ellis sums this series up perfectly
“The hypnotic trick of STRANGEHAVEN – a very English book, but entirely accessible to anyone who reads English – is that there is a main plotline, but after a while you just don’t care… We can’t leave. And don’t particularly want to. We’re locked in and we want to know more…”

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (4-hour miniseries) – SCI FI re-imagines the groundbreaking and beloved series in which “a rag, tag fugitive fleet” of the last remnants of mankind searches for its true home. Fleeing the aliens responsible for the slaughter of their homeworld, the Battlestar Galactica survivors must meet a whole new set of challenges. This intriguing twist on a classic will be written by writer Ronald D. Moore (Roswell, Mission Impossible II) with Breck Eisner (Steven Spielberg’s Taken; The Invisible Man) attached to direct. Distributed by USA Cable Entertainment, the project will be executive produced by David Eick (American Gothic, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Spy Game).
We like this too 🙂
