a good night, a very good night. Some quick notes.
– Goth chicks are awesome.
– Getting wound up about goth chicks is not so awesome.
– it’s a damn small world.
– I have some Johnny Cash playing 🙂
– Finally got my hair cut. Andy reckons it is about a foot shorter, I had at least 2/3 chopped off. I was so tempted to just go in and ask for a 2 on the back and sides.
– Smoking is bad.
– Gonna have to hit a book shop tomorrow, I need some more Culture books.
– I want to watch Batman again.
– Might get some comics tomorrow.
– Sleeping late will be happening.

Gah I wanted more, but not tonight it would appear. Tomorrow…maybe.

I would appear that there is quite a difference between the emails going to my account and the stuff I’m actually getting. I’ve just been goind through my webmail and found two mails which I had not seen before which I had been wondering about. Strange.

Slept well (mainly) last night and until late today. These are both good things. Meeting up with a couple of the lads in The Ship. Couple of Saturday’s ago when I ran into the V lads in town, later on in the evening, Andy brought us up to the ship. First impression was that is a nice enough pub, fairly busy but nothing special. Given how much Andy loves the place I asked him about it. He just pointed upwards. And I look up and see nothing, but I hear music. Nirvana, Faith No More, Rage Against The Machine, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the list goes on. Indie & Alternative music heaven. So a start off there tonight before hitting Waxys for the full night.

Not sure what to do about food. Getting out of bed, having a shower and going for a local fry up sounds like a good plan but also going into town and having food sounds good.

Gah, just plain gah.

I was going to type but then I thought better of it. I shall type some tomorrow maybe.

I had a really weird dream this morning. I dreamt that someone I knew years and years ago came to work at the same company and I dreamt about the reaction that could cause. It was strange.

Tonight was fun, yet close to bad. As the phrase came earlier (and from me), we are men on the edge. Lucky for all, tis not that much on the edge…but it was close.

2 years by the way, nice one…I think.

Good night.

Man I really want some more Cash. Our listserv for jokes and requests is gone since last week otherwise I’d have sent a mail asking for some cds. Gonna have to go and do some buying.

Had a good lunch today.

Man I wish I had some Johnny Cash to listen to in here today. All I got is the excellent The Wanderer from U2’s Zooropa

Never rub another man’s rhubarb.

Today was long and tough. Meetings from 3 till 6 didn’t turn out as planned. The first was a 90 minute conference call. I dialled in for the first hour and actually got some resolution but not as much as I need. Certainly didn’t get any help from the people I needed it from. Managed to get it from another source and got a little done while on the call which was good. Dropped off that and jumped onto a training session. It was really good, the speaker was excellent, the presentation method whereby we could all see his desktop on our screens was excellent and the product sounds good. So that was good. This was due to last 90 minutes but was done in 60. So instead of heading to my last meeting 30 minutes late I made the entire thing…much to my regret. There was nothing of relevance to me or my team at all and it was time I much needed to get some work done.

It ran a little over time so instead of running for the train to get home, I went for a leisurely pint with Andy in the pub on the way to the station before getting the next train and coming home. It was good. It’s a nice pub there, the staff are friendly and the beer is good. The pool table is a bit shit but that’s never stopped us before. So had the one and chat and went to get the train.

Home just after seven and mucked around online for a while before having a game of blood bowl. Loosing by 2 wasn’t too bad for a first time team.

For just a second, this Metafilter posting got me.

It’s one of the guys on my team’s birthday on Saturday so we are heading off into town for some drinks to celebrate. There are a few people coming over from Dublin and we are meeting up and going into town. The plan for the moment is Waxy’s which I have not been in for a while and then move onwards from there at some stage. It should be good night. Other than that, I have no plans. I have lots of movies to sit down and watch so I want to do that but they are all Japanese and it takes that little extra to sit down and watch something subtitled.

Tomorrow is Friday and should be quiet enough on all fronts, this is I think a good thing. I have no doubt there will be some socialising in the evening, briefly at the least and then well, who knows. Hopefully no fights or stupidity. I’m looking forward to getting to bed and being able to sleep in for the next morning.

I cleared out one of my mailboxes earlier. Just under 4000 mails down to about 300, or 30mb to about 4mb. This is a good thing, it makes checking my web mail so much easier. As I don’t have an email client at home it was something which was badly in need of doing. One of my favourite mail client features is to leave the mail on server. This lets me use a client in work to just read stuff but still have the mail on my real machine (when I had one). But at lunch today I used the joy of delete from server when removed from trash to kill off most listservs and other stuff which I didn’t really want or need to keep.

The preview for season 3 of 24 looked fun in a boring way. I’m expecting much more fun from the Jack Bauer Hour of Power but I’m also expecting it to be not so good. Then again the second season was excellent and proved me wrong so we shall see.

Having just run a spell check and corrected ‘dialed’ to ‘dialled’, I feel I should quit my job immediately.

Silence is easy.

I slept really badly last night. I woke up around 4.30 am wheezing for breath, It was not fun and took about 10 minutes to actually go away. Then this morning I was late for the train and barely made it. Had to run for the last few minutes and given how badly I felt already this was not a good thing at all. Still made it into work and a couple of cans later I was fine.

Got some stuff sorted today which was good, it was also a pretty shitty day where at one stage I just sat at my desk and laughed. I have something I need to work on and I don’t have access to the stuff I need, so I’m working with another fella in Dublin on it. As it turns out he doesn’t have the tools to work on it so he is sitting there with access, without the tools while I’m sitting there without access but with the tools. We both just laughed.

Tomorrow just got phone heavy, an extra 90 minute call added to the 90 minute standard call and a meeting for the last hour of the day, ’tis not gonna be fun. Gotta make sure to have lunch before all that.

Hit the Firkin for lunch and some pool, it was not good. First time in a session that I have not won a single game in a while. Went back there tonight for more and it was a little better. Won a few, lost a few. Had a good steak as part of the two meals for £6.95 deal and headed for the 9.42 train. Home and online.

I’ve been meaning to do this for a while so here for your viewing pleasure with thanks for Google for the assist is a listing of the web page titles I use here and their origin. The only order is what they are numbered in the code. The Amy one is my favourite.

– A fun evening of Blood Bowl.
– I remembered (was reminded) The Shield is on now so that is a good thing.
– Real lemonade is really nice.
– Had a good Thai lunch with most of my team today.
– Very impressed with Netweaver and my domain renewal.
Google celebrates fifth birthday.
– I have a headache, too much time in front of the computer this evening.
– Lots of stress in work. I don’t there is anything I’m not stressed about there right now, it’s not fun.
– Tomorrow is Wednesday and Maverick is on C5 in the evening. I think I want to go straight home and watch it. Whether I will or not is another question.
– I was late today, I didn’t sleep very well last night, it’s gotten quite cold at night.
– I want to pick up the second Blue Man Group album.
– Oh picked up the new Iron Maiden album today, it seems to be fairly standard but with no standouts after two listens. Also picked up the latest Matchbox 20, I prefer their older stuff.
– Coming up on two years of the blog in this incarnation. I’d love to be able to tell how many words that is, I can get some file sizes from the ftp I guess but too lazy to work out the rest. That’s pretty much something every day.
– Some things just have to be dealt with head on.
– Oh camera phones. I can see the uses and I wouldn’t mind having one but I can also see the bad uses. I went through a deleted a number of photos from someone’s last night and then 5 minutes later he gets interrogated about the photos been taken. I don’t like it, I don’t like it at all.
– I started the day with drugs, it seems only fitting to end it with drugs.
– Real Coke is not good, but it is so much nicer than diet and Pepsi.
– I’m enjoying Consider Philebas a lot, it’s well written but it does seem to have gone off a new way a little.
– It’s cold, I woke up cold this morning, I’m cold now. I actually feel really bad so that might be something to do with it.
– The nicest way to go to bed (along natch) has to be after a shower on a bed just made with fresh sheets. It feels good.
– I don’t know where anything is gone, least of all my balance.
– Roll on Dublin, bad dates it coresponds with some work stuff which I’m not going to but others are (or at least should be) and might have to tighten up. I might just book some time off next week, make it a long weekend and go do stuff.
– Deadlines are interesting these days. I have two different pieces of information coming in at the same time. 1) we are on schedule, don’t worry about it we will deliver on certain date 2) Daily report, dates are at risk due to blah blah blah. It’s a little bad, it’s going to be important and I need to know the dates for certain.
– Oh yes business justification for three flights and three baseball bats: “They told me to request this so I can follow the instructions they gave me to complete the job, why in the hell are they now denying access?” I did not have a good afternoon, suffice it to say the email I sent on the subject contained the work escalate.
– Lot’s of Oriental food lately now that I think about it. The Safeway on the way home from the train does a good range of them and I’ve been picking things up to stick in the oven for 20 minutes. Some are just to try and see what they are like, so far so good.
– There are a lot of fussy eaters in the world, I’m one of them. I’m surprised that there isn’t a line of plain foods out there. Something like the takeaway meals but instead of stir fry chicken with all the extras in a lemon sauce, why not simply stir fried chicken and white rice? There has to be a market for it there.

“inconsiderate, clueless, moronish assholes” really works synonym for male.
And I spelt synonym right first time for once. 🙂

conversations between men

Dave [17:47]: given the choice
Dave [17:47]: would you rather play Bond
Dave [17:48]: or Batman?

Dave [17:49]: lol
Dave [17:50]: Clooney was a good Bruce Wayne but a bad Batman
Dave [17:50]: Keaton on the other hand would take on all the Bonds and once and still be standing
Trev [17:50]: well its hard to judge him, it was such a shit movie
Trev [17:50]: yeah Keaton was and is the man

Dave [17:51]: did you get them all?
Trev [17:52]: I think I was missing one or two cards
Trev [17:52]: had all the stickers though
Dave [17:52]: might have some spares if you want to look them up when you get home 🙂
Trev [17:52]: had them all over my stereo
