with the way you wear your head

– Somtimes I miss the idea of a girlfriend more than any ex-girlfriend I care to name.

– I’m actually looking forward to seeing my family. I’ve changed alot over the past few years.

– I might be going and doing it again. I am an idiot, I suspect I shall go through life being an idiot.

– I don’t want to have a stupid argument about something every time I go down the pub. It’s not fun, it’s not fun at all.

– Pool was ok tonight. I was double teamed at one stage and fucked up badly by taking my shot and then asking what colour I was. It was unfair on at least one part, but nothing I did not deserve.

– I’m allowed to be in a foul mood for no reason, there is not law against it.

– I got some new(ish) music today. A gig that Thom Yorke did sometime late last year (?) where it is just him singing and playing piano. I love that acoustic kinda stuff. My new boss, Matt seems to have quite similar music taste to me and that is a good thing.

– Work got bad this morning and then straightened out a little. We got stuck with a really shit project again but it does not sound like it will be as bad as last time. I’d like to say I know better but this time I hope otherwise.

Another day, another dollar.

It’s has been an interesting day. The reason none of you can read this is simple: my domain name expired last night cause I missed all of the reminder emails. So I have no email and no website. I renewed it this morning but it could take two to three days to have to all come back to the way it should. In a word: shit!.

So that was the first thing, I’m still mad about some work stuff from the end of the last week but I’m not so sure about how to deal with it anymore. I am very glad that I thought about it over the past few days and didn’t actually do anything about it. Thinking things through is a good thing.

It’s a monday and I was planning on going home via the CD shop and the supermarket but this didn’t happen as I’m sitting in the office waiting for a couple of people to go for a beer or two. This is a good thing as we are off to the Firkin and there is nothing wrong with this at all. Yay us. The troops should be gathering now, but as usual we are stuck waiting for people. Welcome to…

Gah is a good word, it describes today pretty well. Hopefully nothing in Blogger or my website will eat everything up, should I loose things I’ll be very very very unimpressed. A few days of bouncing mail is bad enough.

Right, it’s leaving time.

I’m sitting here still bored, watched bit’s and pieces of Ransom and I’m half watching Graham Norton live somewhere. He’s funny enough, but I’m bored. I got aother game of BB in, but it wasn’t very good. Still it adds some skills and some £££ to the kitty.

Now I have to make my bed and sleep in it.

Oh yes something else which I thought of as soon as I posted the last time around.

Something very obvious but had a couple of conversations about it with some people in the pub this week. In fact it’s so obvious that I’m not even going to go into it.

I’m watching The Two Towers, I borrowed it from Dave rather than breaking and buying it before the full edition comes out. It’s a great little movie. The wall at Helm’s Deep has just fallen and it’s filmed perfectly. The music is astounding. Roll on Return of the King, I hope to have some good news on that front.

No-one is around to play any more Blood Bowl and I’m waiting for another game. So far it’s not been very good, my best results have been draws.

– New Iron Maiden album tomorrow. I never made it to the music shop today so probably after work tomorrow.
– Need to get a pool night going soonish, not done one in a couple of weeks.
– going to go and try a Thai lemon chicken for dinner.

– I was reminded of velvet jeans last night. One of the guys at the gig was wearing them. Way back when in Dublin one of the girls showed up one night in a brand new pair of dark green velvet jeans. Suffice it to say she got a lot of attention that night. For the life of me I can’t think of her second name.

-I really bored. I have about 5 movies to watch and none of them are calling to me. I sorta want to go out and do something but at the same time I don’t. There is nothing on in the cinema and I don’t want to spend the rest of the day online. I’ll go to the shop in a little while anyway and maybe a late night walk.

– There is a group of little kids making a hut on the roof of a shed just outside my window. This is all well and good except they have a lot of wood and keep throwing it off the roof and it’s fucking loud. I shall shed no tears when one of them falls and breaks it’s neck and that will be that.

– Blood Bowl isn’t going all that well, not a single win yet.

– Right, a wander to the shop (via the washing machine and then back to watch a movie.

Lots of things…or not.

– Matchbox 20 were pretty good. I enjoyed them a lot and I knew I few of the songs so it was good. I shall pick up their latest album tomorrow. Great lead guitar player.

– Got some comics today aswell. Last of The Independents from Fraction and Dwyer was good fun, Switchblade Honey by Ellis and McKinney was fun but that’s about it. Have a new 100 Bullets trade to get into when I finish the re-reading and the latest Uncanny X-Men. The second X-Statix trade wasn’t great at all. The Endless Nights special was excellent and it needs a re-read before I comment more.

– That seems to be it, I thought I had more to write down but it appears I do not.

– SK8J has a theme I guess is the word, sign in and tell stories. I was thinking today that I like stories. They are good things, I’ve told a few recently, here and actually outloud. It’s the small things in life which are the best.

– Dean Koontz needs to write the fucking third part of the Chris Snow series.

– £30 for Jane’s Addiction tickets seems a little high, but I’m very tempted.

– Enjoying Iain Banks’ first Culture book Consider Phlebas a lot. His usual high level of writing and some good sci-fi. Having a hard time actually sitting down and reading it, will work on that tomorrow I think. Having internet access back takes something away from the extra reading I was doing.

How rich are you? >>

I’m loaded.
It’s official.
I’m the 54,685,330 richest person on earth!

You are in the top 0.911% richest people in the world. There are 5,945,314,670 people poorer than you.

wow.

You know what’s nice?

It’s good to know who your friends are.

So in other news
– had beer with the two new bosses tonight and I like them both. This is a good thing.
– not been the best day in work for many many reasons
– Iain never showed for beers 🙁
– collected tickets for tomorrow night and she was cute 🙂
– At least one person has mis-read a post this week.
– I should not IM someone about work at midnight after a few pints.
– It has been a good week for socialising.
– A quiet(ish) DVD watching weekend is planned.
– Sleeping late tomorrow is going to be a beautiful thing.

Right I’m on a long call so I’m gonna type some stuff as I think of it.

But first I’m going to pace for a little while.

And an hour later, well some good news for a change. I just got two tickets (maybe even guest list) to see Matchbox 20 in Wembley on Saturday night free from work. So Pat and I shall be heading along. Not a huge fan but I have one of their albums and I did think about going to see them. Its a good plan for Saturday night, and some live music will be a good thing. In fact it is a very good thing.

Dave lent me The Two Towers on DVD and Pat lent me Princess Blade. Looking forward to watching both over the next few days.
I want to join one another video store, there is one closer which I now pass twice a day, to and from the train. So that would be a good way of catching up on movies and having something to do for the evening.

Nick does not need his laptop back tomorrow as originally planned so it’s all good in the land of the electric interwebnet for the next while. This make me happy.

The train is working out quite well but I’m loosing my daily reading time as all of my team and many others from work get the same train so I have to be social. Bastards.

Right, some typing.

– A while back I became aware that I was thought I was being there for my friends more than they were being there for me. I should stop now and say that this is entirely a reflection on me and not on any one of you. I realised in the past couple of days that I have actually not been there very much for some of my friends and I feel bad about that.

– I went to the pub tonight with Pat. Why? Well I felt like a night out and I enjoy talking to Pat. So we went to the Kensington where there was a leaving do on and joined up with some other work people after a while and had a good night.

– Pool was good and not so good today. Undefeated in 4 games at lunch time but not so good in the evening where with effort Pat and I evened up in doubles but he beat me in two single games.

– Kronenberg have just launched Blanc, a white beer to test and we drank that for the night. Expensive, heavy but really really nice.

– Flirted somewhat successfully (?) with the girl behind the bar in the Firkin at lunch.

– Flirted somewhat successfully (?) with the girl behind the bar in the Kensginton tonight.

– No travel for me this month. I was pretty much due to be in Dulles for two days in a couple of weeks but I so did not want to go. It was a horrible project and a horrible commitment and I so didn’t want it, I’m a little disappointed as a few days extra there would have been really great but I can’t be too upset, I’m damn happy not to go. (Sorry Mary, but it would have made me miserable for months.)

– I like my new boss, first impressions are good. I’m looking forward to getting to know him more.

– I’ve pretty much said everything I had planned on typing so the rest is random.

– Crossposted from the V. Thread context is school, cool kids and libraries.

Back in Dublin when I was in first – third year I worked in the school library for lunchtimes…by choice.

Two reasons

1) I loved reading and I couldn’t afford books all the time, working like that let me take out as many books as I liked.

2) The girl who I really really really really liked but typically managed to subsequently fuck things up with worked there at lunchtimes and back then spending any time with her at all was a good thing.

I do have some good memories from back then.
