Fuck. I just lost a game of chess in 4 moves. That’s not good.
I watched The Laramie Project this evening. Fantastic ensamble cast but none of them really get to do anything. It wasn’t great.
Returned the dvds to Blockbuster and picked up some more:
Bowling for Columbine
I never got around to seeing this in the cinema so it’s about time I rented it, I’m looking forward to it a lot.
Clay Pigeons
I know nothing about it but it came highly recomended from a guy in work who has quite similar taste to me so I thought I would give it a try.
Irreversible
Cult French movie from last year which I’ve heard a lot about and wanted to see for a while so it made the list.
So tomorrow afternoon is more than likely to involve the park again followed by a movie evening.
Sat in the park for a few hours and read. It was really nice.
Tonight’s going to be another Blockbuster night I think. I also want to spend some time reading and there are a couple of particular photos I want to take. The sun is shining and it’s a clear blue sky so wandering around should be good. Sitting the park reading is also on the list of things to do.
I like weekends like this, I really do.
However having said that, the local work pub is having a party and bbq all day and running late night and I’m tempted to pop along to that for a while. It sounded like it was going to be lots of fun.
I have to do some shopping for Glastonbury too and lots of stuff to get ready. I can’t do it Wednesday night as I would typically do as I’m going straight from a work function to see R.E.M.
I have to say one thing about the Harry Potter stuff going on this weekend. Thousands and thousands of people queued up at midnight to pick it up. I’m gonna wander down Kings Road later today (maybe) and I’m sure they will be flying off the shelf.
And you know what the really good thing is?
It’s all over a book.

Cities are amazing things.
I crossed the road this morning to get to my bus stop and it was all quiet. There was not much traffic for some reason and there were not many people around. Looking at an empty path suddenly struck me. Thinking about it now, I had my camera with me and I should have taken a photo.
It’s pretty amazing what cities are and how they came into being.
Right now, a photo is worth a thousand words. I shall try to remember to take a photo later and post it.
I was sitting in work yesterday afternoon looking for something to listen to. It struck me that there was one thing and only one thing I wanted right then: Aerosmith.
Typically, I didn’t have any on my mac. Through the glory that is iTunes 4 I had a look on 5 or 6 other machines and had no joy there either. Today all that as changed. I’ve got some Aerosmith in here, it’s going strong and it’s amazing. Janie’s Got a Gun is a classic.
I really enjoyed that movie last night, it may well have to go on the to buy list.
Apple posted details of the G5 range on their shop site last night. It was either a mistake or a leak. It doesn’t matter which, I want one. So very pretty and so very powerful. They seem on first viewing to be the fastest most powerful home computers out there. Rumour also has dual cpu powerbooks on the way. Dear sweet god can you imagine it?
Tonight is the Summer Solstice, tomorrow is the longest day of the year and the weather is fine. I know quite a few people heading to Stonehenge for the night and I’m quite jealous. It sounds really cool.
E-Mail Mob Takes Manhattan
This is a fucking cool concept and something I would be well on for in London.
Team meeting at twelve has now been replaced with team lunch in the sunshine. I like this plan, I like this plan a lot. I must in the interest of fairness disclose that this is in fact my plan. We have a call at 1pm. Some fucker decided that lunchtime on Friday was a good time for the weekly UK call. We normally have a team meeting from 12 – 1 so that would mean a late lunch…unless we combine the two 🙂
I watched Y tu mama también tonight. I’ve been meaning to see it for a while as I heard really good things about it. Deservedly too. It was a hell of a lot of fun and really well made. The cast were excellent. The subtitles weren’t too bad, but the cast did such a good job I thought they really conveyed so much without me having to read the text.
Nice tagline too:
“Life has its way of teaching us. Life has its way of confusing us. Life has its way of changing us. Life has its way of astonishing us. Life has its way of hurting us. Life has its way of curing us. Life has its way of inspiring us”
Highly recommended.
Oh yes I have a confession.
I stole my nice new pencil.
