I went to All Points East on Sunday. It was a double headliner for the 20th anniversary of both Death Cab for Cutie’s Transatlanticism and The Postal Service’s single album, the seminal Give Up<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m not a particular fan of DCFC but I *adore* Give Up and had really gone just to see The Postal Service. As it turns out DCFC were pretty good live and the crowd were very into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Postal Service though were just on a whole other level. From the second the intro to The District <\/a>Sleeps Tonight kicked off, the place just lifted. An already happy crowd turned into an ecstatic giant indie electronic dance party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gibbard is an excellent front man. He, Lewis and the band looked just as happy as the crowd – no forced banter, no mugging around, just everyone loving it. Honestly it felt like an all out victory lap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was an evening of sheer joy and it is still making me smile a couple of days later.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
